Oil filter

i bet that everyone with a 5th gen prelude has done an oil change on their car and when your removing the oil filter oil leaks out of the filter and drips on the exhaust and axle. or at least it happened to me. i was just wondering if they have a oil filter relocation kit?

Re: Oil filter

Same with a 4th gen. Why relocate the filter? Just catch the oil with a rag.

Re: Oil filter

I know Moroso makes a relocation kit. They have them on Summit and they're pretty reasonably priced.

Are there any downsides to relocating a filter?

Re: Oil filter

Extra weight?

I could see a drop in oil pressure if the system was poorly designed. Lots of people run them though so they must work pretty well.

Re: Oil filter

next time put a bag around the filter when you take it off....catches all the oil if you do it with some common sense

Re: Oil filter

With the car level the oil will drain out of the filter, thus getting rid of the dripping oil. I've an sh so a base could be different

Re: Oil filter

I think when you supercharge a 5th gen, you need to do a filter relocation, i think thats what i was reading. IDK! but i just use high power brake cleaner and spray the crap out of the bottom frame and clean it afterwards. I hate having oil drips on my driveway.

Re: Oil filter

I saw a relocation kit on an EG Ferio build in Honda Tuning this month and it looked awesome. If you wanted you could do that mod... its kinda like wire tucks they dont really have a performance reason its more visually pleasing to those viewing the engine bay. Also if you added boost later on or an oil cooler running oil lines would be that much easier... I hate it when people say "oh there is no reason to do that mod" there is always a reason to mod your car... because we love them and it makes them ours.
