My Progression Thread!

Started off in late April 2010. The car was official mine April 19, 2010
It was a 1998 base lude in 9 out of 10 condition

Wasnt really all that excited about having a car.. At first I was given a choice, I had chosen a Civic Si and didnt think I would end up with a surprise Prelude!

At first I liked the Prelude but didnt like the fact it was an automatic
I was planning to sell the car and search for a 5 speed Prelude..
As time went by, I wasnt completely decided about selling the car. Instead I planned on keeping it, Later To Do A 5 Speed Swap!

A while later, I was planning what would be some of my first mods. I was planning intake first, then exhaust.
Since I was only 16, they wouldnt let me buy or install performance upgrades yet.(and i decided I would wait for that anyways until the 5 speed swap comes)
So then the visual mods came:

-First mod was to smoke out the tail lights (which didnt come out so good.. was improperly done)
-Second mod was to change the stock blade rims to some 04 Acura RSX-S rims powercoated black with red lip
-Third mod was to remove the H emblems from the front and rear.

Early November 2010

(completely improperly blacked out tail lights)

As the days went by, I was on the search for new mods..
The car needed new head lights, bumper turn signal lights, ect. So I went out to buy some new lights...

December 1, 2010 The new headlights and turn signals finally come. Also ordered some fog lights.. Not sure if they are jdm or usdm..

Progression of turn signals and fog lights installation

Later that week, we decided to do the head lights along with a new front grill with an emblem

December 13, 2010 The car gets new tail lights and out with the blacked out ones.

December 15, 2010 Ended up smoking them out again, but this time the correct and not so dark way!

December 18, 2010 Shave off DOHC VTEC sticker and P R E L U D E letters from trunk

(looks the same but they are shaved off... And is raining harder that day)

December 19, 2010 (which is today)
Car has been parked in the same spot all week because it has a dead battery. Will be getting a new one Monday..

My next mod will be shave off the side markers from bumper and put clear S2000 side markers on side fenders. (cant wait for them to arrive) Had to pre-order them at the Honda dealer.
Will post another update and pictures when they arrive

Nicely done youngster. It seems like you might have a lack of patience though (I am referring to your tail lights). Don't be to rushed to do anything and try and really think everything out, you know sleep on it! I only say this because I am impatient myself and sometimes do things that I later regret and end up spending even more money. Take your time and thoroughly research what you want to do and give yourself time to let it sink in enough to get past the lusting stage to know that you truly like what you're about to spend your hard earned cash on. You're well on your way though, glad to see your progress.

Maybe you are rightt. I was impatient to tint the tail lights. First time I had done it, didnt remove the tail lights, never sanded or followed instructions. (i just wanted them tinted, and it costed me a full can of tint, had to remove the overspray paint all around fenders and around tail lights/bumper)
And was actually searching everywhere for the grill emblem.
Still searching patiently for a jdm oem lip kit (around Los Angeles area)

Re: My Progression Thread!

how much did you pay for the fog lights? if its under $175 then those would be the replica JDM fogs, which arent bad in my experience. if those arent the real ones, do not put HIDs in them or else theyll melt. real JDM fogs are suppose to handle the HIDs with ease. looks nice though, personally not my taste in headlights but comes together nice.

What kind of lowering springs would be good for the Prelude? And about how much would parts cost?

Yes they are 10 inch. I have my amp under the front passenger seat. Need to find a way to hide all the wiring to be able to have 2 amps in trunk and have matching amps

Re: My Progression Thread!

New Update: Days have passed, got past all the christmas shopping, new years get together with family.
Car was parked at a relatives house in his garage for a while.. (because that is where we can take the car apart without getting worried)
Went back yesterday 1/02/2011 and found someone had left plastic shopping bags on top of the trunk and hood which had dirt scratching the car :(

But besides that, we were able to install clear s2k side markers.

random shot

old bumper lights and new side markers

Might look like it is finished, but actually have to do all the wiring. Thinking of using them as parking lights/turn signals..
Or a set up when the front bumper turn signals are off, the side markers flash, and when the side markers are off, the bumper turn signals flash.

Similar to something in this video at 6:20

Also going to have to cover up the holes left on the sides of bumper lights.

Re: My Progression Thread!

Something to mention about the stereo....I'm looking to mod my car in a more performance way, first thing I did was take 200lbs of speaker box and amps from the trunk to get rid of rear overhang weight. If you want to show the 'lude, keep the ginormous stereo. If you want to track it or drive it hard, get rid of that ish. i noticed a HUGE difference after getting rid of it all. I very much like what you did to the side markers. Those headlights are in my future too.

Re: My Progression Thread!

There is a big difference without the box. I think it's suppose to save gas also. I switched to amber sidemarkers btw, and removed the red off the rims. Painted my calipers red, and I'm thinking of going back to stock headlights(not sure yet).
