Steering wheel install.

The previous owner of my car put on a crappy bright red momo steering wheel so I'm looking to chuck that and put back the OEM one. He gave me the airbag (since it's illegal to sell a car without an airbag) but I had to go purchase the steering wheel and clock spring. I was taking a quick look at it but it seems that the airbag's horn wire is the same on the clock spring (female to female) Do I have to cut and rewire it? Is it usually like that? Everything else fits properly.

Re: Steering wheel install.

Keep the momo...It's probably cool looking. And you technically don't need an airbag. Some cars didn't even come with airbags; yet they still pass safety inspections.

Take some pics, if you don't want it I'll take it (with the aftermarket hub).

Re: Steering wheel install.

Nothing from Honda should have 2 females like that. I say start looking at the helms and parts diagrams to make sure you know you have all of the right stuff.

Re: Steering wheel install.

I believe it's because the air bag horn was modified from what I can see (it has elecrtical tape wrapped around it.) so I'll be able to fix that. It's not that I don't need an airbag. It's that there's cruise control on it. I believe the hub is damaged or something because everytime I turn, there's a squeeling noise.

Ohhhhhh. Well it is the horn and it is black so that would make sense! Hmmm. I'll look into this but I'll give it to my mechanic to have him install it either way.

Thanks!

Re: Steering wheel install.

Ok so I couldn't wait and ended up installing it all myself today. Everything works great!:D

Now just one more question. Since I put the airbag back, shouldn't the SRS light be gone? How do I get rid of it...

Re: Steering wheel install.

Never mind. Found some steps on Google how to reset the SRS light.
