ok, last ecu qustion

my buddy has a chipped ecu out of a h22 hatch with a intake exaust and header, would it be safe to run it in my car? I only have a intake sorry for asking so many qustions i just dont want to hurt my motor.

As long as he was running the same h22 you are, (there is the h22a1, h22a4, h22a type s, etc.) I would think that it would be safe to run. However, I'm pretty sure you'd want to have it tuned for your car, specifically.

The real question (which nobody has asked yet) is, what kind of chip are we talking about? Some random eBay chip, or something a bit worthwhile like Crome or the like?

First and possibly last mistake...

Why take a risk that has no way of paying off?

Even if the map is basically the same as stock, are the gains worth the risk? In this case, its not possible because there are no gains.

If you want to try the ECU out, pay the tuner about $150 for an hour and get it suited to your motor. That way you dont run any risks and possibly gain 10hp. I'd rather spend the money now than spend it on a new motor later...
