See if you can figure this one out, climate control panel dies

I have a 2001 Prelude. The other day my blower motor and heat died while I was driving, all buttons were unresponsive and nothing would even light up. The radio and all other interior accessories work fine. It came on for a few minutes on my commute home later that day too. Now no lights will light up on the climate control panel on any button and the blower motor won't blow air, cannot rear defrost etc. It also has just gotten ridiculously cold out in Ny as of today so nice timing. I have looked all over and have found no good explanation. Also if it put the key in ACC mode the defrost light comes on dimly, its the only light that will work and I can hear the blower motor do a faint whine. I checked all fuses and they are good as far as I can tell, it was so cold out but I will check again, but it wouldnt have came back if it was a blown fuse right? Everything worked completely fine up until I had it inspected at a Midas, this problem happened the next day on a really cold morning.

I am really looking for some suggestions I have found a few threads with other honda owners on other forums with the same issue, but there were no answers ever posted. Anybody know what is the cause of this strange problem? I have seen such complex things explained this cant be an issue that nobody has ever had fixed right?

I wish I could give you an answer. I am going through the same thing myself with my 2000 Accord. It will just stop working altogether, no lights no nothing and then it will come back on when it feels like it. It turns off and on randomly. I have noticed though that after it's a bit wet outside that it happens more frequently. For me it is probably a short, maybe you too?

Sounds like the whole heater control unit is sh*itting the bed. The computer part of it that plugs in. They go bad after a while. I have seen these similar issues on many other cars and in my experience, replacing the climate control unit fixes the problem.
