Best Intake for Me

I live in Houston and im pretty much new to all of these, i know the differences and what not

but i searched and couldnt really find anything specific to me

looking at cold airs, the one i have on now is a cheap short ram from ebay, but curious to know what would you all think

i hear the cold air is a lot more resilient with water now and that helps

but yea...which should i get that has the best sound/hp gain

Re: Best Intake for Me

Just keep what you have man an intake isn't going to change very much...replace your filter and see if it feels any better.

Re: Best Intake for Me

Honestly just take that intake off, paint it blue yourself and look up what a bpi flowstack is. Thats most likely what route im taking and its really cheap. The bpi flowstack is like 50 bucks or somethin. I think thats the best option for a intake. Just my opinion tho.

Re: Best Intake for Me

Stick with that. CAI are a pain to replace/clean the filter, which between that and my air bypass being split I got a Type-S intake and am installing it tonight. If I had to do it all over again, I'd have either gone V2 or Type-S.

Re: Best Intake for Me

I have family in houston so I go there from time to time. Judging by the extremely hot weather over there, I'd highly suggest going with a Cold Air Intake. You have no snow so you don't have to worry about hydro locking. Houston's weather is also verrryyy humid so you might want to get the bypass thing that stops water from going in. Short ram in houston might suck in too much hot air from the engine which isn't too good.

Oh ya... Stay away from eBay products!!

Re: Best Intake for Me

believe me bro, stick with the eBay intake. a guy on here with a all motor prelude making 325hp has been using a ebay intake with bpi flowstack. he knows his stuff too. check around for dyno chart comparisons for intakes and you'll see that the difference in power between intakes is very very minimal.

Mostly because the difference is very negligible. If I felt like taking the time I'd look up the thread that a member once put together. He dyno tested a bunch of different intakes. Basically showing no more than about 1-4 hp difference. But if you are really interested I believe the V2 showed the best gains. Other than that a stock or type-s intake with a k&n filter will provide the best results. I can't remember for the life of me how the bpi flowstack did, and iirc the ebay junk all show very minor, if any, gains.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong its been forever and a day since I've looked at the dyno sheets. But iirc thats the gist of it.

EDIT: me and Blackbb6 are on thinking of the same guy. 98vtec on here. I believe the original thread is on honda-tech if you feel like looking for it.

Re: Best Intake for Me

Well I would just like to comment on everyone bashing the ebay intakes..

Sure, ebay sells a lot of crap, ebay also has really good stuff if you look hard.

I spent 25 on an intake from ebay, paired it with a K&N filter, and it works like a charm..

The only way your going to get a bad intake from ebay is if some private seller ships you a radiator hose or some **** like that

Re: Best Intake for Me

I wonder if u can make a type s intake fit a supercharger? Lol

I have a stock 4th or 5th gen intake that I might hack up.. It's jdm too yo

I would just stick with what u have until u figure out what u really want to do to the car.. No matter what you won't be able to notice the difference from an intake RIGHT NOW
