Icon8 Questions about intake manifold gasket??

It all started out with having a idle fluctuating problem, I went ot the final idle problem thread, that helped me a lot, and fixed to problem. about 2 weeks later the same problem again, so I go ahead and bought a IAC, put it on and its still fluctuating.

So I heard some where to shot out some propane around the IM gasket to see it the engine reacts, and it need, So I m guessing IM gasket need to be changed or the injector seals.

So I was wondering if anybody had a DIY on how to change the IM gasket.
Do I need to take my intirer intake maifold apart or doest the hole thing come out togeter

My next question is should I buy a fuel rail and bigger injectors while Im at it?
(My car is stock right now exept for a cold air intake and a stage 3 clutch)
If yeah what size CC should I get?

My next question is should I remove the butterfly part off from the intake manifold?

Thanks and happy thanksgiven in advance :-)

Re: Questions about intake manifold gasket??

the stock fuel rail can support higher hp applications. so no need to buy a new one. If you have no way to tune your car to run on bigger injectors i would not advise buying any. the upgrades you have do not need bigger injectors.

on to the IM. I found that it is easier to remove the manifold if you remove the plenum from the rest of the manifold.

Hey thats was gona be my next question, do I need tunning for the injectors so I guesse I forget that for now haha.

And hey the clutch is a stage three, the privious owner went threw a stock one and a stage one so that goes to tell you how it was driven haha.

And I fixed the fast idle valve also so. I have the intake manifold gasket left

Re: Questions about intake manifold gasket??

the IM is a PITA to remove. my only advice is to remove the plenum first then get as many of the nuts holding it to the head from the top. also make note of how all the wiring and hoses are ran around the manifold. you want to put it back the way it was so you dont kink or pinch anything.

Basacly went I remove the plenum, I would be able to see the butterfly part of the manifold correct?

does that mean I should also get the gasket between the plenum and the butterflys?

How hard is the plenum to remove? just 4 screews or something like that right? what would be you next step after that messing with what ever is in your way to get to the IM screews on the block?

Thanks for helping me out, hope you all gad a good thanksgiven day

yeah you could see the butterfly. i cant remember how many bolts hold it on but just remove that. then just remove all the clips and stuff from the im. then remove the bolts from the head.
