HID BULB HELP!

I have HID's on my car and they are the really dark blue i think they are 10k. Well I want to downgrade to a 6K to avoid the cops. My question is what is this about H3 H11 and so on? Does this matter? How can I find out what I have? If anyone can get me some feedback on this I would appreciate it. Thanks

Re: HID BULB HELP!

It doesn't matter what ballast or hid kit is on it?

Re: HID BULB HELP!

im confused by your question, if you are asking if you can reuse the ballasts that you have with your 10k hid's then the answer is yes but i recommend getting the bulbs from the same company if you want to use the same ballasts. get only a low beam kit because we dont have high/low beam bulbs. and H1 is universal through every company to be the bulb that is for our car. answer it? if not try to be more specific.

Re: HID BULB HELP!

5G's don't come stock with HID's. It depends on which housings you have.

No one said that they come stock with HID's so I am confused about your statement.

I thought you meant this as saying the 5G came with H1 HID's. My mistake.

Re: HID BULB HELP!

I bought the car used so I'm not sure on what brand hid kit it is. It came like that, I just wanted to know if I can replace the bulbs for the 6ks since the lighting is similar to stock...So you say H1 is universal and I can fit that? And bulbs come with adapter wires correct?

Re: HID BULB HELP!

if you look at the ballasts they should have the brand of who made them. And H1 are not universal they are just the type of bulb that our cars take, and some other cars also. There is a thing that will go around the bulb to help hold the bulb into our cars, but there are ways around it and you will see those ways while you are taking out the old bulbs or it may have the part. (may have been really confusing to you, makes since to me, feel free to ask anything else).

So step 1 go check what company made the hid's you have,
step 2 go online and order 6k's from that same company
step 3 take out the old and put in the new :P lol

There is no company sticker on them just the sticker that has all the ballast info such as volts and watts but no brand.

Re: HID BULB HELP!

I would get a whole new kit. cheap enough, and simple.

Otherwise, pics would help us answer your q's. since it could very well be that you have a retrofit with projectors (meaning a dif bulb..not a plug and play kit) or just a plug and play...really depends on what the previous owner did.

Re: HID BULB HELP!

you can buy any brand H1 bulb, cause they'll have the same connection that works with your aftermarket ballast. Most of the aftermarket PnP kits will have the same amp connections
