Good headers?

I have question... Do the nice very cheap priced headers on ebay give any hp n tq? They look very nice and are stainless steel aswell. Difference from DC headers or Megan headers?

Thanks guys.

Re: Good headers?

Well for headers i like SLP/Hooker lol....but if ur lookin for a headeR for ur prelude then it all depends on how much u wanna spend. Gotta pay to play. FGK/Mugen/hytech replicas are all decent and will run a few 100. Ull get marginal gains from them. If ur looking for big power ur gonna have to lay out some cash. I;'m buying a bisimoto in feb. It's 1k for the header but dynos from bisi show 20whp gains on a stock motor. I'd say its worth it haha

Ohhhh I specifically want a pic of that header pm'd to me when u get it!!

The bisimoto header is a sexxy ass header. And does it really show 20whp gains? I wouldnt doubt it knowing bisimoto. They do some serious work

Re: Good headers?

the $50 ebay ones are better then the DC ones. if you want power from header u need to spend a good $800 on used hytech

Re: Good headers?

You will lose HP with that ebay header.

You don't have to buy a legit hytech to get gains. Mosey on over to prelude online and check out the group buy for the hytech replica, or spend a little more and get one off ebay.

Re: Good headers?

ive seen people drop a half a second with an ebay header, intake and exhaust. Id say it is better than the stock manifold.

Re: Good headers?

Having seen some ebay headers can say most will cause you to lose horsepower. They are not even close to being port matched, they have bad weld quality on the inside were it matters, and the venturi sections are too small.

The reason why you see the .5 second drop in time is the exhaust itself, the older the car the more carbon build up. Thus your 2.25inch factory pipe is now closer to 2.1 inches.
That is why most people make more power when they put a converter/test pipe on. Most of the time they are running too rich causing the cat. to clog badly. So of cause a test pipe is going to make more power. But you are still running too rich, which is causing you to lose power.

Best thing to do would be to clean out the stock manifold and put it back on. The stock manifold is very close to being port matched, and has about the same out diameter as the ebay one. Or you can spend the money on a bisimoto or the hytech replica, or the other one that has the long piping that comes out about a foot.

Re: Good headers?

it also depends where u want the power u have two option tri y and 4 2 1 most headers are 4 2 1 cust that gives u the most peak horsepower. but the tri y gives u more mid range power i chose those cus thats where i use power the most.

Re: Good headers?

A 4-2-1 header will shift power to lower/midrange. A 4-1 header will shift power to the upper RPM's.

4-2-1 is a try y ( pipes consist of 3 y's think about it ) . there are 1 piece and 2 piece 4-2-1 's 2 piece little less flow so more towards mid range , 1 piece flows a little better so a little more to the top end , 4 to 1 all out top end least amount of back pressure longest separation of exhaust pulses ..

4 2 1 2 piece least top end
4 2 1 1 piece a little better top end
4 to 1 most top end power shift

correct me if im wrong ???
