speaker options for 5th gen ??

i am looking to upgade my interiors but ...... i know there 6 1/2s in the doors and 6x9s in the back but for some weird reason crutchfield dosn't list door speakers ... so will any old 6x9 or 6 1/2 work or is there a need for shallow mounts or something odd ???

Re: speaker options for 5th gen ??

6 1/2" will fit in the door but require cutting the basket to fit them properly. Here's a DIY guide on it: INT: 5th Gen 6.5" component speaker door install

Re: speaker options for 5th gen ??

I have a set of pioneer's in my doors and i did not need to cut the speaker basket at all. They fit in perfectly and even mounted to the stock holes. Just dont use the grill part. The model number is TSA1673R, check em out on ebay, they are clean sounding speakers. The only thing u have to do is grind off the universal mounting tabs on the side of the speakers, if i remember their a 4.

Re: speaker options for 5th gen ??

I suggest spending the money and getting a GOOD set of two ways. My JL XR 6.5's have lasted four long hard years of being severely overpowered and beat on and they are still kicking. The Kicker, Boston, JL (cheap), and Alpine 6x9's have all died in less than 8 months. Granted I like my music loud... The next set will most likey be some Focals.

Honestly I wouldn't buy kenwood either. I'm a big fan of JL Audio though...

Re: speaker options for 5th gen ??

Hey guys, sorry to resurrect an old thread like this but my research has gotten me no where. Has anyone else run in to trouble with the boot support rods hitting the base of your 6x9s? I have a set of Fusion Powerplant 6x9's from my old car and I can't get them in because they are too deep. The only thing people seem to be suggesting for me is to get a set of 6" front speakers and mount them in to back (which I think is a crap idea).
