What are the symptoms of a bad pressure plate?

This is what's going on
In the morning my clutch dosent have that much pressure when I push the clutch pedel down until the car warms up and then some pressure builds up.
And then when I drive it in 1st and 2nd gear it pulls good until I hit 3-3500 rpms then after that the rpms just go up and dosent pull that great..
Any ideals on what that could be?
Feel free to ask any questions
Also from what the previous owner told me
He put a exedy stage 1 clutch new slave and master cylinder

I would think the clutch isn't gripping...could be pp or clutch?

Re: What are the symptoms of a bad pressure plate?

Just for some background I installed a new Competition Clutch kit stage 1.5. Went great for about 2 months and then Bam couldn't shift... So I replaced the Master and Slave Cylinders (which it badly needed) and still its giving me problems. Worked fine for little while after I bled the system but the pressure comes and goes with usage. Would that be the Pressure Plate thats jacked up? And another Q while Im at it. Can I rotate the MC piston while its still linked up to the clutch pedal or would I have to unlink it and rotate the nut itself? Any help is appreciated. I wanna buy a Carbon Fiber hood but not till this thing is squared away... A lil help please....

Re: What are the symptoms of a bad pressure plate?

If the previous owner only replaced the clutch disk and not the pressure plate or flywheel, then that may be your issue.

Generally when you accelerate and only the RPMs increase it means your clutch is slipping and on it's way out. If the previous owner did not properly break in the new clutch, it could have ruined it very quickly.

Either way, it's time for a new clutch, flywheel and pressure plate. Make sure you also replace the throw out bearing and rear main seal while you're in there.

It is quite the possibility that the previous owner only claimed to have replace the clutch. This happened to me and it ended up slipping and going out shortly after I purchased the car.

Good Luck!
