Re: quick Q about before and and after of tranny flush?

Sounds like the synchro(s) is/are playing silly buggers. Is this in every gear shift: 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-4, 4-3, 3-2? Where do you feel the bump? While accellerating or at constant speed? You said you used 90-140W oil, what weight was the oil you removed? (It could be something as simple as you filled it with too thick an oil)

Re: quick Q about before and and after of tranny flush?

Considering you're supposed to be using 10w30, it's probably acting up because the oil is too thick

But it might just be that I put to thick of an oil but I have a 167xxx miles trans so I thought it would be a good idea to use a thick oil but I guess not......wil having that thick oil damage the trans or no

Re: quick Q about before and and after of tranny flush?

seeing as that stuff is made for moreheavy loads its gonna cost problem it will make it tougher for the tranny and could end up destroying it if it ran perfectly before then y change it

Re: quick Q about before and and after of tranny flush?

You either use honda mtf or 10w-30

What you are using is more like a gear oil for a differential.

do not use 10 w 30 . some earlyer years say its ok to use full time but this is missinformation . if you read closely its says can be used temporarily . use only honda mtf , what u used is way to thick this is causing the problem .. and for those who want to call me wrong and say 10w 30 is fine i can show you proof that it is not . some older alldata info says it is ok to use 10 30 in place of honda mtf premanantly ( this was not correct ) was supposed to say as a temporary way to get by till you could get honda mtf ....

point being drain it use honda mtf ( problem solved ) i promise ...

The older (1995) honda owners manuals specifically call for 10w30 and 10w40. Now they want MTF because it has friction modifiers which help the synchros function more smoothly.

You might have to drain, fill, and drive a few times to get that other gunk out of the transmission now.

Re: quick Q about before and and after of tranny flush?

FYI - When I did a drain and refill of my MTF, it took 2.8qts before it started dribbling out of the fill hole (even though the HELMS said 2qts for drain and refill and 2.2qts at overhaul).
