Noise behind glove box when accelerating

Hello everyone,

I've got a 2001 Honda Prelude which I absolutely love and I've never experienced any problems with... except for a rattling noise that comes from behind the glove box which happens only when I accelerate or drive 120 kph or faster.

I took the glove box out and checked all of the wires/connectors behind it and that doesn't seem to be it. The noise appears to come from inside the heater core. BTW - this problem is not related to the heating/cooling system because it works perfectly. It seems that it's a loose part that's making the noise when the car vibrates.

Any suggestions on what could be causing this? Your help would be greatly appreciated :)

Just suggesting. Take out the cabin filters, vacum/blow out all the crap inside the cabin filter slots and replace both filters. I just got my prelude and did that, boy was it dirty... Previous owner never even opened it before.

Might be your exhaust bracket vibrating, and you just hear it through the cabin. Also might be engine/tranny/axle/tire related.

I highly doubt there is anything in your dash rattling around.

Re: Noise behind glove box when accelerating

Thank you for the suggestions guys. It's a little tough to describe exactly what the noise sounds like (but I suppose there is a slight ticking sound to it).

I removed the cabin filters and vacuumed out all the dirt/debris that was in there. I will replace with new filters today and see if that changes anything.

The noise is most definitely coming from inside the cabin so it is not related to the engine/tranny/axle/tire.

If anyone else has any suggestions, please let me know. I'll keep you guys posted on my own findings.

Re: Noise behind glove box when accelerating

So I vaccumed out the heater core and replaced the cabin air filters last week and closed everything up. And the noise is gone!!! I've been driving the car for about a week now and haven't heard the noise :)
