SH Header on a Base with an SH Exhuast

Ok, so the deal is that I bought an SH thermal catback exhaust from this guy.. didn't know at the time it was for an SH until I tried to put it on and it was about 4-inches short.

I read online that you can put the SH header on a base with a SH catback, but then I also read that you can't.

I'm wondering if there are any other members with this problem, I've searched but couldn't find anything.

We all know an SH header is not going to fit a base, but with the SH exhaust do you think it will fit??

I'm just about ready to order one, but I don't want to get stuck with 2 parts. I'm already selling the SH-Thermal Exhaust.

Also there is that 4-inch connector flange piece that I've heard about from the cat to the exhaust.. I found it one place and it was on ebay, but it was being sold as a whole header unit. Anyone got any info on that? heres a picture of the little piece http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Megan...Q5fAccessories

Re: SH Header on a Base with an SH Exhuast

why not just take the piece of the exhaust that hooks to that cat to a muffler shop and have them cut the flange off and weld a 4" piece of pipe in there and then weld the flange back on the end. problem solved.

Re: SH Header on a Base with an SH Exhuast

well I don't know the exact measurements, and It would be a pain the ass if it doesn't fit after that.. I would rather do the SH header conversion because I know someone selling one for a decent price.

NICE LUDE, BTW. looks fresh man.

also with the SH header, i think its just longer at the bottom downpipe piece that connects to the Cat (about 4 inches - the same size), but I've heard 2 sides to this already.

Re: SH Header on a Base with an SH Exhuast

thanks man.

you could always mock it up and take measurements to see how much you would need or just mount everything and drive it to the closest place and just let the exhaust dump out after the cat. it should be under $50 to let somebody do that. i just dont see the point in buying a whole nother header to fix something so easy.

Re: SH Header on a Base with an SH Exhuast

So let me get this straight. You have a Base model Prelude, but have an SH header and cat back exhaust correct? You want to be sure that it all fits on with no modifications? IF so, then yes it'll fit perfectly fine. THe Base model and SH model both have the same exact motor, it's just that the ATTS unit on an SH takes place of the intermediate shaft on a Base.

Re: SH Header on a Base with an SH Exhuast

Well, unless you consider that the collector on an SH header is quite a bit longer than on a base...

*cough*

But he already has an SH header(I assumer both halves) and an SH exhaust, so the collector shouldn't matter when it comes to fitment.

Re: SH Header on a Base with an SH Exhuast

actually I don't have an SH header. just my base-stock header.

I just have the SH-Catback, so I'm just trying to figure out what I need before I try installing everything again

Re: SH Header on a Base with an SH Exhuast

like 1badbb6 said, just take it to an exhaust shop and have them weld an extension to it. it really wont cost a lot

Re: SH Header on a Base with an SH Exhuast

Well I can't drive around with my cat hanging off to see, if they can or not weld an extension, it will probably cost me the same to get one of those SH-headers off of ebay. So I think I will go with the header-method.

I hope this works, if it doesn't. I hate to say it, but I think I might be time... for a new... project.
