Re: axle question?

if your axles are not making any noises and are driven fine u can jus get the boot. also performance ones can handle more abuse for people for forced induction. but oem axles can handle all the bolt ons in the world.

Re: axle question?

Replacing the boot involves the removal of the axle anyways so you might as well just pull the bitch out.

Re: axle question?

might as well just change the whole axle, go to your local advanced auto. they are pretty cheap and have a lifetime warranty so whenever it breaks just get a new one for free

Re: axle question?

Replacing the boot doesn't seem to easy so I'd replace the whole axle as well. To check the motor mounts pop the hood, and have someone start the car and rev it and see if the motor moves back and fourth...it shouldn't.

Also in order to change the outer boot you have to disassemble the inner joint and boot. A remanufactured axle from a parts store is ~$60 and comes with a lifetime warranty like bCoy said (and is your best option).

Re: axle question?

Are any after-market axles lighter, giving better perfomance?

Re: axle question?

Yes, the Driveshaft Shop makes extremely good axles.

Re: axle question?

Pretty pricey. This is the second time I've torn one boot and the first for the other. If this will save me money in the long run and giving me better performance/cut weight then it's probably the way to go. My shop charges $90 per axle for install, seem fair?
