any other maintenance while my valve cover is off?

I'm getting the vtec solenoid gasket, distrbutor o-ring, valve cover gasket and cam plug replaced. I cant think right now, but are there any other small easy maintenance i can do while im at it?

Should do a valve adjustment after torquing the cam plates. Also check your cam seals those can be replaced if they are leaking while the valve cover is off. Easier to get a look at those cam seals with the upper timing cover removed.

Thanks for the reply, i went to Honda and they called the cam seal a cam plug... as far as adjusting the valves, i've never adjusted valves in my life and i'm a little iffy on it. Seems easy though.

Good luck lol

Did u paint your valve cover too? Might as well since it's off
I know it's not really maintenance but if your vc is peeling or something I would consider it maintenance

Re: any other maintenance while my valve cover is off?

I just bought my SH a few months ago and my Valve Cover is actually Clean with no peel or anything. So I'll be leaving it that way for now. Luckily the owner before me was some kind of retired engineer who knew his Honda's and garage kept it. So now i have a nice piece of machinery in my hands although because of it sitting so much, a lot of the parts are seizing up so maintenance it is.

edit: and thanks, I hope valve adjustment isn't too hard to mess up. lol.

You should be fine

That's good that you were able to get such a well taken care of lude.. Since it's been sitting for a while you might want to check all the hoses to make sure they aren't cracked or something.. But you've probably already done that

I meant the cam shaft seals on the timing cover side they are easier to get out when the cam is lose. But only necessary if leaking. If you plan on doing a timing belt job, could just wait till then.

i bought my car at 106k and the owner before said he did it at 90k but he didnt have the water pump replaced. So ill keep that that in mind when i redo the t-belt as soon as springs back.
