Wrong 5spd FED ECU for 97 Lude

Hey Fellow Luders,

I saw an ad for 97 ECU with Manufacturer Part Number: 37820-P5M-A01

but the seller sent me ECU with Manufacturer Part Number: 37820-PM5-L04

I want to send it back but want to know if these 2 ECUs interchangable

Thanks

Re: Wrong 5spd FED ECU for 97 Lude

the one you got is for a 5spd base

but either way they wont work cause the ecu's had immobilizers in them

Re: Wrong 5spd FED ECU for 97 Lude

this is where i dont know, you could run obd1 and run a p13 or chipped p28 ecu (what i have), id assume that the 96 p13 would work which is obd2 but it's kinda rare and not cheap. Ive read that you can take an ecu to the dealer with your car and they can reprogram it to work with your immobilizer but i dunno how true this is and though ive never worked at a honda dealer, the chevy and toyota dealers i did work for i doubt they would have done this for a customer....

But to my knowledge, all 97+ preludes all had immobilizers in the ecu.

i say lets wait for someone else to chime in who knows the definite answer

i wonder if my spare pcd ecu would work for you?

Re: Wrong 5spd FED ECU for 97 Lude

U know u can use your auto ecu rite? I mean u can use it how it is, and it will run, just not very well. But u can also just solder a resistor in the ecu on top of another resistor. And it would run just fine. Let me try to find the link for you.

Edit: Here ya go bro

Re: Wrong 5spd FED ECU for 97 Lude

u have to reprogram the key then to run with the new ecu

thats what i have a feeling, when i did my 5spd swap i used my auto converted to 5spd but then put the spare 5spd i had and the car wouldn't start someone told me i had to get the key reprogrammed so it recognized the ecu. but i sold that ecu and the guy i sold it too had to program his keys he said honda had to do it for a pricey number.....

Re: Wrong 5spd FED ECU for 97 Lude

It prolly is your best option. And to reprogram your key at honda, i think it was somewhere between $100-$150. Pretty pricey if ya ask me.
