Message Prelude209. He had a set for sale that I was looking at a couple weeks ago. Probably still has 'em.

Re: In need a set of new or used HONDA PRELUDE CARBON STYLE TAIL LIGHTS

I'm still really confused on the issue here. It's tape, right? even if the paint was thick and hardened on the tape, the tapes mild adhesive is the only thing sticking to the lights...worst case maybe the edges are stuck, thats what careful use of a razor blade is for...or maybe a little paint thinner to soften the paint on the tape to allow the tape to be removed.

I've never heard of such a problem.

And why not go with OEM lights? Why cheap fake carbon ricer lights?!?!

Cant believe you are willing to spend the money on a whole new set of taillights when you just have some tape stuck to it! Use some heat and Goo-Gone like everyone else said and it will come right off guaranteed. You do have to work at it and use some elbow grease but it will come off. Save your money on some better mods.

Re: In need a set of new or used HONDA PRELUDE CARBON STYLE TAIL LIGHTS

For the removal of the tape on the lenses----take Avon Skin-so-soft and your finger and saturate the tape with it. Let it sit 1-2 hours. Start at a corner and with a hair blow-dryer on a medium to low setting work back and forth to soften the tape and peel it off. The Skin-so-soft will prolly allow you to remove it, but the dryer helps on the stubborn stuff. DON'T use thinner as it will haze and dull the plastic, and then you have to go thru the steps of refinishing headlights to bring the shine on the lens back. GooGone will work, but don't let it stay on there too long or it will haze slightly too.

heatgun or blow dryer.
also, you could try spraying it with windex or alcohol to soften it up and create a smooth surface and use a razor blade. like your shaving!

Re: In need a set of new or used HONDA PRELUDE CARBON STYLE TAIL LIGHTS

I work with both glass and plexi in my business as well as razor blades and knives. I'm very good at what I do, but you need to be REAL careful when attacking plastic with a razor. Also, the alcohol won't likely haze the plastic during it's use, but anything with an alcohol base can haze certain plastics. The Avon Skin-so-soft has chemicals that are compatible with plastic and won't ever haze it. I do agree, the first thing you prolly should try is just a fingernail and a blow dryer. What's actually the most difficult to remove is the adhesive. The tape itself will come off with a NON-ammonia based cleaner such as Sprayway Non-Alcohol based window cleaner and then repeated applications to remove the adhesive that's left. It will take the tape surface AND the adhesive off, but you have to constantly change to a different part of your rag as it loads up with goo. Also, when you clean it, use a SMOOTH cotton cloth like old t-shirt, not a terrycloth towel as it will leave minute scratches in the plastic. I wish I hadn't had the experience with this.

Are you talking about the carbon style altezzas? If so I have a used pair. Pretty good condition. I'll take $10 plus shipping.
