Performance Mods for a 2000 Type-SH

Hey guys i just bought a 2000 Prelude Type-SH and its my first car : ). My lude is completely stock with the exception of an ACT street clutch and flywheel. Im barely starting out and i want to know what kind of performance mods i can put on my car to bring out maximum performance without losing ATTS. I know you cant really do much but i still want to make my car better. Here are some of the mods i had in mind
-AEM Cold Air Intake (is the V2 version better?)
-68mm-70mm Skunk2 throttle body
-Skunk2 Intake Manifold
-Mugen Exhaust System
-Mugen 4-1 Headers (MAYBE)
-18x7.5 (or 18x8 if it wont bother the ATTS unit) Enkei PF-01 rims with either 215/40ZR18 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 tires or 215/40ZR18 Toyo Tires Proxes T1R tires.
Would any of these be too much?
Also what is the max Torque and Horsepower you can put without messing with ATTS.
Thanks!
Oh yeah what kind of suspension mods can i put on too

Re: Performance Mods for a 2000 Type-SH

Cold air is good, V2 I've heard is better.
Mugen is overpriced, from what I've heard. Look into an Apexi or Tanabe exhaust.
Headers are a great upgrade, but only a few of them will give you real gains. I know one is a Hytech header, which you can get a replica of for cheaper. There are others but I forget them.
Don't get Hankook. And only buy quality rims.

Also with all those mods installed, especially the IM and TB, you might want to look into cams and tuning.

You won't be affecting the ATTS with any of this. ATTS will stop power getting to the wheels if you exceed 250whp. With just these mods you won't have to worry about it.

Thats a general response, someone else can prolly give you a more detailed one, I'm in class at the moment so I don't have time. I would also suggest doing lots of research before you go out and buy anything. Look at all your options. Good luck.

Skunk2 IM is more for boosting.

Euro R is the way to go

Re: Performance Mods for a 2000 Type-SH

+1. Skip the Skunk2 IM.

Check out Rosko Racing for your intake manifold needs.

Everything else looks alright, maybe wouldn't go with THAT big of TB without headwork and tuning.

Intakes: The AEM V2 and the Type-S Intake are your two best options.

Re: Performance Mods for a 2000 Type-SH

Sounds like a good start. I personally think the aem v2 is overpriced. But I hear it sounds great. And the intake is essentially an air filter on a stick. The piping doesn't really matter. And with the exhaust, I'd say its the same. It's just piping with a muffler at the end. Check out the apexi ws2 exhaust though. It's sexy.

And suspension wise, most people like the ground control sleeves and koni yellow struts. The koni struts have adjustable stiffness settings as well.

Hope this helped man

I too like the APexi WS2. I know that's what I'm getting after my swap.

Re: Performance Mods for a 2000 Type-SH

ya looks alright, but might wanna go with a smaller tb... like me i'm running a s2k tb.
either way with those mods dont forget about tuning. specially since the intake mani and tb. since you wanna keep your atts working then theres only a couple things you can really use as far as tuning. not to sure exactly which ...i got a base :)...

Re: Performance Mods for a 2000 Type-SH

SH means you are limited in the tuning category, you only can have a piggyback system without losing atts.

And your limited to the 250hp area before ATTS goes crazy.

H22 can definetly make a good amount of power out of a 3" exhaust. Just your preference for headaches of a 3" exhaust on drone speed or getting that extra 1 or 2 hp.

Re: Performance Mods for a 2000 Type-SH

JRSC lol. But in all seriousness Apexi FTW!!! Love my exhaust. Def agree w/the Rosko IM over SK2. Been dyno proven to give better results. I have a thread on here somewhere w/the dyno charts. Lemme try to find it

Here ya be. This is what made my mind up for me haha. Thanx again blake.

Wow thanks guys this really cleared up a lot of questions I had about my car. I knew ahead of time that I wasn't gonna be able to fix up my car that much but it's my first car and I just want it to be clean. So many mods to choose from idk where to start

Oh and with the SH you're limited in the exhaust systems you can buy. A lot of them are for the base but not the SH.

Re: Performance Mods for a 2000 Type-SH

Regarding intake upgrades, I would suggest that you consider removing your intake resonator and replacing your stock air filter with a drop-in K&N washable air filter. The whole project cost me about 30 minutes and $40 (for the K&N filter).

Take a look at the Intakes Q&A for a discussion of intake upgrades. I can't speak for any measurable performance increase (aside from the cool sound) since I never dyno'ed my car, but some users in the Q&A thread have posted real comparison data involving the K&N method vs short ram vs cold air intake.

Re: Performance Mods for a 2000 Type-SH

Offtopic, but since we're talking about mods for an SH, I understand that when you exceed 250whp, atts disables. Now, what happens when you go back down below 250whp. Will it correct itself and be functional again as in a snap of a finger?

Umm I'm not to sure but I don't think it just comes back on after u reduce horsepower. I think you would have to reset the car by unplugging your battery and plugging it back in. Atleast that's what I read
