Clock dims when headlights turn on.

It always happened since the day I purchased my 5th gen. I just happened to remember it now and was wondering if its normal that when I turn on my headlights, the clock dims.

Re: Clock dims when headlights turn on.

it is normal for the clock to dim when you turn on your head lights. You turnyour lights on when its dark. so the clock dims because its dark and does not need as much light to be visible pretty much. its so its not too bright at night. it does it to my head unit as well

there is a write up that Nfrank89 just did about this exact thing, if you decide to mod it.

That's for 4th gens. My 4G does this too. If you want them at normal brightness with the lights on, just turn the dimmer to full brightness. Then they will be as bright as normal. At least, that's what I can do with my 95

Re: Clock dims when headlights turn on.

Like what was said earlier: you turn your headlights on at night... therefore honda assumed you won't need the clock/radio as bright to see them.

The problem we run into is new laws (ex: you must have headlights on when its raining) which during the day makes it difficult to see radio/clock displays

So no worries, your car isnt over-drawing power causing the lights to dim.
