different srs module part#s for 97 and 98-02

so i need to replace my srs module. honda is telling me that 97's are unique when it comes to the srs module. the rest of the world is selling 97-02's with the odd person selling them as 98-02. anyone shed some light on why the 97 is different from the rest.

Re: different srs module part#s for 97 and 98-02

part# for 1997
Honda Part 06772-S30-A80
Genuine Honda SRS UNIT KIT

part# for 1998-2001
Honda Part 77960-S30-A82
Genuine Honda SRS UNIT

As far as I can see from the Honda parts exploded views - The '97 comes with a torx grounding bolt (Honda Part# 90138-SL0-A81 Genuine Honda BOLT, TORX (6X25),
and the 98-01 does not (available separately) and it is 5MM shorter(Honda Part# 90137-S84-A01 Genuine Honda BOLT, TORX GROUND (6X20).

What year is your lude, and why do you need one? Did your bags deploy in an accident?

Your best bet will be on a used one
here is a junkyard in Minnesota with an ebay store that has a lot of 'Lude parts
Slidegood
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

and here is a 98-01 used one on ebay starting bid $49.99 6 days left

Re: different srs module part#s for 97 and 98-02

actually i got scammed on the car. long story short, its a 97, got things sorted out and got it scanned. 10-1 (airbags deployed) was one of the codes. not good for an accident free vehicle right. found a 98 to 01 cheap enough to try it out. light is out and got fingers crossed. oddly enough, the mfg date on the door of the lude i got it from was 04 97. and it was the 77960-S30-A82. see what happens i guess. thanks for your insight on this and ill keep the links handy
