Gauge Cluster Problem

my brother for my grad. gift said he wanted to do somethin for my lude. he has a 97 lude FYI. but he said he wanted to do something for me so, I let him borrow my lude and well he tried to put in endigo gauge covers or somethin like that. He messed up and my Speedometer and Fuel gauge don't work how it's supposed to. How can I fix this? If I can buy some nice fancy expensive gauge cluster I will and take it somewhere professional to install can i do that? Also i'm willing to go back to stock but can it be fixed? If i take it to honda? help please.

honda will charge you well over $600 to replace the gauge cluster. he most likely messed up the motors that the needles are on. I know because I trashed a set of gauges tryin to put that stupid indiglo things on.

best bet call a junk yard or hit up ebay for a replacement cluster. then call around your area for a reputable locksmith or auto mechanic that can set the mileage on your "new" cluster to the appropriate number.

or you can spend thousands on a nice digital stack cluster that they use in most racecars.

Well i got an extra manual one but I'm about to use it, lol. Search the Lude forums for a 5g part out and see if you can't pick one up.

ebay. pick one up for bout 50 bucks or so. look uder the needles and see if the overlay touches i had the same problem putting mine in for the first time. i just cut them out and bought another set and read up some more bout it. theres a specific way to do it for our cluster. after a awhile it got old and i got a jdm cluster. got mine in a drawer somewhere

Go online and buy a guage cluster and DIY it , if you can and are good with wires. You can get one very inexpencive online search Google or Froogle for pricing.

I agree with him, the problem i had one time and i got worried for nothing was my speedometer, when we installed the gauge set the needle was stuck all the way down at 150mph n would move when i drove it, well for that kinda problem the gauge clister motor isnt really a motor, its 2 magnets, a north and south, now when i hit around the 60-80 mph marks, a charge to the north magnet was sent and the needle itself if like a magnet well the back of it, n so when the north magnet was charge it attrackted the magnet on the needle n put it back in place and i noticed it just jump up and then when i started to slow down it went back to 0 n worked again, thats all how it works through 2 magnets a north and south, dont know if thats ur problem though and i cant help u for the fuel gauge dont know about those...
