Re: engine question

yes you can use a base model motor, but you'll need a base model tranny to go with it, along with a new driverside axle and intermediate shaft. To keep things simple, either find a Type S motor or an SH motor

Re: engine question

You'd also need new transmission mounts I believe, and the base model computer. If I remember correctly if the ATTS unit is disconnected from the ATTS control module then the computer will shut off your fuel.

If you want to go with a motor made for the SH you have two options. USDM h22a4 or a JDM H22a Type S. The type S motor is the japanese version, which is a decent bit more powerful and comes with an LSD trans, but the whole kit and kaboodle from a reputable place (H motors online, specifically) is about $4,000.

Welcome to the joys of owning an SH....

Re: engine question

Engine repair to the motor I have will be $1800. I've been looking into just getting a new engine and all I can find are base engines. Would I have to have altogether to do a swap?

Well thats confusing as I have a 97 base and I have the USDM H22a4 motor. hhhmmm now I am second guessing do I have an SH, I can't I had the blade wheels on it. Besides when I bought my header for a base model it would not have fit right? or was that the CAT was different, man now I'm all confused,,,,,,, jk
