radio head unit problem

I recentley bought a pioneer radio head unit for my 00 prelude and tried to install it yesterday and today ,and it wont turn on. I have checked all of the wires, connections, fuses, and the clock comes on but the radio wont. When i say clock i mean the small one above where you put the radio, so the clock and radio fuse is definetly good. What is the deal? Anyone else had this problem?

Re: radio head unit problem

if all your connections are good,i suggest to get a test light and probe the yellow wire and red wire to see if unit is receiving power.btw, check fuse of the head unit itself.good luck.

Re: radio head unit problem

remember red is switched (ignition) 12 volts DC
yellow is continuous 12 volts DC (all the time 12 volts)
Blue is usually the remote to power on amplifiers when the ingintion is turned on. This wire is only used when powering the remotes of amplifiers, EQ's, etc.
And always have a good ground, also use wiring intallation harnesses, yeah they might save you money without but what a mess, if you decide to sell the car and keep the radio its an easy swap and you'll leave the car in better condition for the new owner.

I hate when I get a car and see someone's hatchet job behind the dash.

I completely agree. Nothing is worse than having to fix other people crappy wiring jobs to install a stereo. Why dont people just buy the adapters? They arent that expensive....
