how low can i go?

Hi Guys

Im lowering my 98 base 1.5"(tokiko suspension kit) and would also like to put an apexi n1 on. Does anyone know if the 1.5" of drop will create ground clearance issues with the N1? If so any suggestions on alternatives?

Thanks

Re: how low can i go?

dont' hold me to it, b/c i dont' have 5th gen, but i wouldn't think a 1.5in drop would bother clearance. if you wanted to get real creative though, and this is just a thought, if ur worried about the canister hittin ground u could cut the rear bumper and make it work, but that may b more work than u wanna do lol. Like i said though, i wouldn't think the N1 would have clearance issues, i have seen some large exhausts on lowered ludes. Just my 0.2 :)

Re: how low can i go?

1.5" ins't gonna cause any clearance issues. when i had the tokicos it really didn't lower it a full 1.5" it was maybe 1.4" back and about 1.3" front

Re: how low can i go?

The Tokico kit lowered your car more in the back than in the front!?!? What is your general opion of the setup? You say you USED to have it! Did you run a N1 also? If so, How much clearance would you say you had? I would prefer not to have to white knucle it every time I have to cross a speedbump!

Re: how low can i go?

I have the same tokico kit, and yes the back is lower than the front, which ticks me off, but I have the megan racing cat-back (its a big fuggin can on the back)

as long as I dont try to rally jump speed bumps I can make it over straight on if you just take it slow...

if you have people in your car just angle it some..

if your worried about scraping then just get coilovers and make the back higher than the front..

Re: how low can i go?

l have a 01 base with apexi exhaust lowered between 1.5 to 2 drop on coilover. never scrubed the canister but the mid pipe would srub kinda easy on bumbs. had to have the hangers rebent and the mid section heated and bent for a little more ground clearance . no problems now though.

Re: how low can i go?

My buddy have a 98 base with 2.5" drop and an N1 evo cat back. Scraped everything.

1.5" shouldn't cause any issues.

Thanks for the advice on the resonator! It appears from your photos that your exhaust is angled differently than other N1's. Did you have to do any custom/fabrication to make it work for you?

What would you say your ground clearance was before you did the custom work? Where you scraping on everything?

Does anyone else have a similar problem with this Kit? Im hitting the panic button right know and think i might scrap the tokico springs and go with neuspeed!

mid pipe was about an inch from the ground. now it's probably like 2.5 to 3 inches off the ground. everything else was high enough off the ground just the mid pipe hung to low.

Re: how low can i go?

Dude if you're not scraping you're not low enough. Lol. You'll be fine, worst comes to worst, rebend your hangers because the one portion of the midpipe does hang lower on every exhaust setup I have ever had. But seriously, if you can't handle taking speedbumps at an angle you probably shouldn't lower your car... I mean I take everything at an angle. It's life bro.

yes, i used to have tokicos. my opinion on the setup is, you get what you pay for. its one of the cheaper setups out there, so it's not gonna be anything tremendously sporty. its a good entry level set up that adds minor improvements. i have a stock exhaust. but to give you a good frame of reference, i could still get under the back of my car pretty easily with out it being jacked with tokicos.

Re: how low can i go?

Screw that, the back is up too high for stock, one of the reasons I want to lower my car is to drop the back... I'd go with something that drops it more level all the way around.

My opinion...
