Re: Need advice on ABS light

The Anti-Lock Brake System set a code in the computer because there was a fault it the system somewhere and made the light come on. The ABS system will NOT work while the light is on. You have to go somewhere and get the code read to see whats wrong. It could be a simple wheel speed sensor (there is one on each wheel) or more involved like the ABS pump which are very expensive. Id go get the code read somewhere. I think AutoZone or Pepboys will do it for free or any gas station service center. The Dealer may charge you a half hour to an hour labor if you don't get it fixed there.

Re: Need advice on ABS light

Mine came on because I was low on brake fluid. Filled it up and the light hasn't come on since.

Re: Need advice on ABS light

You can pull the code yourself. Get a jumper wire, get under the dash, and find the blue service terminal (there's 2, the blue is for ABS, the brown is for CEL's). With the service terminal jumped, turn the key to the ON position, but don't start the car. The ABS light will flash you a code. It will flash in either long flashes or short flashes. The long flashes will come first, followed a by a pause, and then a series of short flashes. The number of long flashes will tell you the first number of your code, and the number of short flashes will tell you the second number. For example, if you get four long flashes, then a pause, then eight short flashes, your code would be 4-8 (rear driver side wheel sensor). If you can give us the code, one of us can look it up for you.
