Icon5 5th Gen. new wheels help please

new to the forum. i read the prelude guide and saw that the stock tires are 16x6.5 with 55mm offset.

i need some experts help with some new tires i searched for on tire rack.

am i to assume if i entered my vehicle info correctly that it would only list wheels that would fit?

here is my dilemma, i found a couple different nice rims i like but they are 16x7 with 40mm offset. i tried to understand what all the numbers mean but i am not sure their relationship to each other.

help a newbie out and let me know if those will fit my base lude. everything else is stock on the lude, btw...although the springs/struts/whatever (stock and original) may have weakened a bit over the years. besides this...would those wheels fit my car well with no problems or interference or other mods?

i would like to be able to just have them popped on the car.

i should add one thing. they have 2 options with those 16x7 wheels with the backspacing. it's either 16x7 with 40 offset and 5.51" backspacing or with 5.55" backspacing. help!

thanks for trying. i already stated that the answer was not in that thread.

is your idea to show how damn lazy you are and post a link with no explanation??

i stated i read through that.

FURTHERMORE IT DOES NOT LIST THE WHEEL SPECS THAT I AM TALKING ABOUT SO THAT DOES NOT HELP.

THANKS FOR NOTHING AND DUMBING DOWN THE THREAD.

THANKS bb6.

i am buying wheels, but i am also buying tires to go with them. 205/50/16 should fit the 16x7's, correct? please correct me if i am wrong, or what tire size would fit them better. i understand stock is 16x6.5 rim, so would actually 215/50/16 be more appropriate???

my focal point of my original question, which no one has quite answered yet is backspacing. no one addressed backspacing.....everyone only mentioned offset.

i have 2 options for backspacing for the same exact wheel. they are either 5.51" or 5.55" for backspacing. which would i get?

Re: 5th Gen. new wheels help please

It does list the wheel specs you are talking about, and you really shouldn't attack someone unless you dont want to be on this site for long

7" Wide Wheels w/ 4th & 5th Gen
Less than +38mm ::: Not Recommended
+38mm to +41mm ::: Not Recommended if you are, or plan to be, lowered. You take the chance of rubbing the outside lip of the wheel well.
+42mm to +44mm ::: This is a grey area if you are lowered, results vary depending on tire and/or drop. You take the chance of rubbing the outside lip of the wheel well.
+45mm to +50mm ::: You shouldn't have any problems. Recommended Offsets for 7" Wide Wheels.
Larger than +51mm ::: Not Recommend. You take the chance of rubbing the inside lining of the wheel well.

Yes, your 205/50/16 will fit a 16x7.

The higher the offset (aka the MM measurement) the more the wheel is moved back into the wheel well, when you see those lowrider cars with the wheels sitting halfway outside the well its because they are running negative offsets. +0 offset is directly in the middle of the wheel in that picture (the blue dotted line).

As for the backspacing:

Re: 5th Gen. new wheels help please

thanks, ya that was technically there. but link to the page did not answer my question. you just sort of did about the tire size. the backspacing issue/question still stands. linking me to google of backspacing does not help me address the question specific to my 5th gen lude.

i already googled. i figured that out about google before you were born probably. google did not help. why do you continue to behave in such a mixed manner--barely helpful and an asshat know it all.

i started out nice. it was a simple question. you were the ass first.

can a brand new member not ask a simple question and then get some simple straighforward, direct answers. you exemplify assdom by your behaviour.

the thread does not lie. follow it. it starts off simple. what could have followed was a direct straighforward answer. not some indirect asshatting and nonanswers. you want me to sit idly and let you asshat around because you have been here longer. i dont think so. why do bastards like you start **** from nothing. you are the type that picks fights arent you.

hey asshat, that thread does answer your question. and .04" of backspacing won't matter sh*t. you know what .04" equals? 1.016 MM. use use some common sense and try to figure out solutions to basic problems on your own

Re: 5th Gen. new wheels help please

So this is off topic but I really don't care. I was having a great day and was planning on helping this guy get answers for his questions, until I scrolled down a little bit. Now I'm just pissed off that another noob got on here asking for help, then in turn proceeded to be a dick to one of our reputable members that was trying to help him.

Is this piece of **** banned yet? God I hope so. Where is D?

ok im sorry as well as an ass sombrero can say sorry. i did misquote and referred to upslider in fact, not the other guy. and to the guy that said it's only .04 " so who cares...well why would they make 2 different ones in the first place. and thousands of an inch matters for certain things. maybe this is not one of them...maybe it is. ? sorry for my asshatness, but not for anyone elses. really this could have been avoided by a more direct answer. here we are..still wondering about backspace.

Re: 5th Gen. new wheels help please

Then do some ****ing reading! Holy ****, were not here to do everything for you, part of owning a car and modifying it is learning **** on your own.

Backspacing is the distance from the inside bolting surface of the rim to the outer edge of the inboard side of the rim.

A wheel that has a positive offset-or greater backspace-has to slide further into the wheel well to be mounted. Similarly, one with a negative offset-or lesser backspace-will tend to jut closer, or even beyond the fenders.

5 minutes of reading, and two websites look what I read, BASED ON THAT INFORMATION AND SOME LOGICAL THINKING, which you seem to lack, you can decide what amount of backspacing too choose.

Wow...

U think people are gonna help u with an attitude like that?

They tried to answer ur question as best as they could and u go off on them because someone (ups) posted a link that does answer some of ur questions? Maybe if u would of waited a little longer someone else would of spoon fed u the rest of the info u needed!!

Don't bite the hand that feeds u unless u want to end up in the pound

And by the way it'll fit no problem

thanks but i need spoon fed. its just how it is. and when you say it'll fit no problem.what do yhou mean. my question is, which is more appropriate

16x7 with 40mm offset and 5.51" backspacing
or
16x7 with 40mm offset and 5.55" backspacing

believe it or not. there are those options. they are there for a reason i'm sure. .04" must possibly make a real difference, all other specs being the same otherwise they would not have those options.

i got it that the wheels will fit if i get the 16x7...but no one answered the question about backspacing.

again

which is the correct option
16x7 with 40mm offset and 5.55" backspacing
or
16x7 with 40mm offset and 5.51" backspacing

"it will fit" refers to 1 choice...which one is it with 5.55" or with 5.51" backspacing?

They will both fit. Four hundredths of an inch isn't going to make a difference. That is what we are trying to tell you. They are both the correct option.
