Re: HELP! Biggest wheels

I would assume you could do 20's on it... hell there's a 4th gen doing that. It's a terrible idea however, and you'll catch a lot of hell for it. I think 18's look really good on a 5th gen.

Re: HELP! Biggest wheels

anything above 18" looks very out of place on a prelude. you could easily do 19's on a stock ride height depending on the offset and size of your tires. i would think 20's would be pushing it. and just so you know, huge wheels on a stock ride height will look retarded.

here's a lude that has 18's with great ride height and stance. :::xplicitablist::: '01 Base

Re: HELP! Biggest wheels

ewww, never bigger than 18's on a 5th gen or 17's on a 4th gen.. but yes you could fit up to about 20's.. idk why you would want that though.,

Re: HELP! Biggest wheels

Regardless of how much you look, you will never find details of a car with 20s fitted and stock suspension.. Why is this? Because nobody has done it. There are plenty of people around with 17s or 18s and stock suspension, and that looks just plain wierd as it is.

The other problem is width. 20s don't come any narrower than 8" wide, and while it can be done, you need to be clever with offsets. Clever tuners use the suspension geometry and the different location of the hub when lowered to allow a different offset (I know of a local car that was slammed on 19s with a +35 offset - it had to be just about scraping on the ground to fit the rims in the guards).

Why are you only asking after details with stock suspension? Are you not planning on lowering it at all? And even after lowering, it will sit higher than a serious off-roader on the 20s.

Re: HELP! Biggest wheels

It really comes down to where you live. Bc if you live in a state where there are smooth roads then droppin the Lude and riding 18s are sick!!! But if you're like me and you live in NY where the roads feel like you're driving a 4X4 offroad then your best bet is to go 17s bc at least with 17s you have that slight gap to allow the tire to move when hitting them awesome potholes or bumps!!!

Re: HELP! Biggest wheels

do larger wheels affect what rpm you will be at each speed. for example i have stock rims and at 70mph im at around 3500 rpm. Will larger wheels effect that at all?

Re: HELP! Biggest wheels

Yes, if the overall diameter of the tire is larger. However, at 3500rpm you'll still read 70mph. Realistically, you'll be exceeding that 70mph.
