Favorite intake, header & exhaust?

I've got a non-SH, 2000 lude. It's got 134k miles on it. The only mods I've done so far is dark tint. I'm embarrassed.

Most of the miles are highway (since 40k miles when I got it), I changed the timing belt (when it went out on me) at 98k miles. Changed the cluch (also when went out on me) at 125k miles. Burns about a quart of oil a month.

I've been tight with $ last few years so I haven't had any to spare really. I finally got some decent income coming in, a garage & the will/want to make it a kickass car.

I would ultimately be interested in getting intake, exhaust, header, rims, suspension, lip kit, engine rebuild with upgraded parts, turbo/supercharger, controls..... ehh, basically EVERYTHING.

Where do I start? I've read many places intake, header & exhaust. So, what's your favorites?

Looking for a fairly quiet exhaust, I'm not interested in letting people 5 blocks away know I'm on my way. Louder than stock is fine, I just don't want something that going to scream on an engine that isn't even boosted.

Other than I just want good quality as I'm planning on the keeping the car for a long time. Not highest quality/most expensive but upper to middle range.

Oh yeah, should I spend the cash to stop the oil from burning 1st? Is this most likely going to take an engine rebuild?

Thanks.

depends if your going FI or N/A. If you want to go N/A then that will be a really nice set up.

If you're planning on boosting later on down the track, make sure what you do now is compatible with the boost. Ie, go 2.5" or 2.75" exhaust now so you don't have to do it again when you boost.

Project planning takes some time, but it's more than worth it in the end. Make sure you know exactly what you want the car to do, and what you use it for, as they (as well as $$$) are the main factors in what mods you can get away with carrying out.

I will be putting either possibly a supercharger in it, or most likely a turbo. One of the two for sure.

That's really good advice, thanks. Getting a full game plan before I buy any of that is probably the smartest thing to do.

So... uh.... what's YOUR favorite exhaust, headers & intakes?

I'm unable to comment, having only used the OEM ones.

WTF!!! are you serious...unable to comment...so why leave a ...never mind....Hey bud...yeah i would definatley have to say most band for the buck is an ebay intake or hold out for a good deal on an AEM INJEN etc....but if your boosting soon...don't bother...same with header's.....you'll waste your money when you have to replace with turbo manifold right? There right on the button when saying to go with 2.5 2.75 exhaust.....you'd be losing back pressure so make sure your absolutely getting the Turbo etc. if your just doing the I/H/E intake...your preference....Header's...do your research...but on H23's any header's help alot....exhaust...open up the Cat...and go for a GOOD muffler....something that sound's good...not like a riced out POS!!!! personally i'm gonna try the flowmaster 40 series Delta Flow....Different...but hey...it's Flowmaster...FTW!! that's my 10 cent's the 2 cent's are free....:)

As long as it's quality and worth putting on the car.

I'm trying to design my own custom header and see if I can't get it built. If that doesn't work out, I'll be going with an SMSP. I like Type S or Injen SRI. Exhaust, GReddy SP2. And like Blake said, 68-70 mm throttle body with a ported manifold to match.

I can only fit one other person in my car besides myself. I'll certainly be picking up something more attractive than you, preferably with large funbags.

Re: Favorite intake, header & exhaust?

I have a question regarding the Type S intake. You say just drop in a K&N filter but is that all you really need?removing the box and installing the filter will fit perfectly around the battery?
