PCV Valve inside has oil on the opening.

So, I've decided to clean my PCV Valve today, so I pulled the valve off then i noticed there were oil on it, where do you think the leak is if there's oil on it.

I also bought Gumout Carb and Choke cleaner to clean the inside of it, but i stopped there when i saw oil on it. What else can the gumout clean?

I believe that is normal. The PCV valve does stick right into your valve cover and allows gasses to pass through it. If anything go by your local auto parts store and pick one up. There are realy inexpensive.

Did a bit of reading and is completely normal!

"However, due to the constant circulation of the oil within the engine, along with the high speed movement of the crankshaft, an oil mist is also passed through the PCV system and into the intake."

Re: PCV Valve inside has oil on the opening.

It's in the far right side of the valve cover (near the IM), should be a white plastic piece held on by a grommet with a tube coming out of it....
Oil on the PCV is no big deal at all, dont sweat it.
Also, not sure what all you wanna clean with that Gumout just remember that our engines are fuel injected so you might have problems in you just run it in the fuel.

Mind if you tell me why it was worth it, what changed when you replaced it?

Re: PCV Valve inside has oil on the opening.

it helps to reduce pressure in the crankcase.
it'll smooth out rough idling.
improves MPG.
i suppose you'll only be able to tell the difference if you have any of these symptoms.
but it should still be changed every 40k miles or so.
and its only like 4 bucks so might as well.
