so i just moved to phoenix arizona and its hot.... i want to get my windows tinted...i searched but mostly found people saying they dont know what % their tint is cus they bought it like that.... i just want to know how each tint looks like and what % i want on them.... soo

Is 0% the lightest and 100% the darkest or is it the opposite?

can you guys post up pics stating the percentage of your tint? i like to see how they look. also i have no idea the legal % is for the front windows... post up pics.. thanks guys...

Re: Window Tinting options

The lower the percentage the darker it is. I think the lowest you can find is 2%.

I have 35% front and back, 5% on the small windows and 20% on the sides.

Re: Window Tinting options

every state is different. you need to look up your state laws. airzona is pretty lenient so you should be able to get away with 20/20. maybe 20/15. personally i wouldn't go any lower then 15 anyways. in my experience also, most cops don't give a hoot. especially in states like arizona. they're to busy looking for illegals. and if you do below the legal limit for darkness and get pulled over its likely for speeding or doing something else. immediatly roll your windows down so they can't see them and they usually won't ask questions.

edit: a google search turned up this:
http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/AZ/

the lower the percent means ..lets say for example.......2% tint like u mention above will allow 2% of light to pass thru. 100% will allow 100% of light to pass thru.

Re: Window Tinting options

In NC i believe the darkest you can go is 32%. I have 20% on all windows and the strip on the front windshield.

This pic is with the moonroof open the whole way and it is also a sunny day.
20% realy is quiet dark from outside looking in and quiet illegal in my state. I have had the car for almost 2 years now and have only been harassed 1 time about it but no tickets. I love the dark tint and i think it makes the preludes look realy nice. That and the lower stance just looks awesome.

Nop :P, but I have no A/C and in the caribbean heat leaving my car in the sun with out tints is like getting in an oven when I get back. Over here the legal limit is 35% and since the window brings a lil bit of tint from the manufacturer you have to put 40% so that its legal.

Re: Window Tinting options

In Georgia it's 32% or higher in the front and anything in the back. Every state is different though.. Just look up what's legal. Most shops should give you a warranty on the legal tint.

No but I mirror tint that doesn't look ricey but the driver side is starting to come off.. I really hope I can match it but if I can't I'm gonna wanna go dark but not too dark.. I still want to be able to see out of the windows.

I wanna see tint on a 5th gen that 32% if anyone has it

Wouldn't 100% mean no tint??

2 1/2 is the lowest I've ever seen. I have double 2 1/2 on my mustang and it looks so sexy but I have to roll the window down to see out. Lol
I have 35% on the back windshield of my lude 2 1/2 on the small windows and 15 on the windows

Re: Window Tinting options

I think if looks are what you are after 20% is a good number. Its dark enough to not really be able to see in but still practical. You can see out at night pretty well. I had 35% before on my chevy pickup and it really was kinda light.

Re: Window Tinting options

I've got 30% on my front two windows, and 20% on the quarters and rear. I like it. You can see fine through it at night, and it's not dark enough to be conspicuous. It doesn't look terribly dark, but it DEFINITELY makes a difference in how hot the car gets inside during the day.
EDIT: Forgot to post my pics lol. Don't mind the filth on my car, it's on my To Do list today. Here they are:

Yeah they're crappy cell phone pics. Bite me.

20% all the way around. Before and after shots. Paid $15 bucks on ebay and got the whole 5 piece set pre cut and did it myself. This percentage is illegal where I'm from but no one ever busts my balls about it.

I never thought about looking on EBay for tint. How well does it stand up and how easy was the installation?

Re: Window Tinting options

So i think out of almost every single reply including mine, not a single person has said there tint is legal. On a side not and not that related. I work with a girl that used to drive a subaru legacy and had the entire care in 15% tint. Including the whole front windshield. You could not see anything inside that car. She got pulled several times before she took it off.

My tint is 100% legal. 35% is legal on the front windows in Louisiana, and 20% is legal in the rear. When I got my brake tag, they metered my tint, and the front metered 34.5% due to the sun fading it just a bit, and the rears metered 23%.

It was real easy (if you know what your doing) and they were mad cheap! I don't care what anybody says, you can't beat $15 for your whole car tinted. they even came with a link to a video on how to install them. You cant tell the difference between mine and a car done professionally. I am very happy with them and I would recommend them, but I forgot the sellers name. I will try to find out. It was so nice to get the tint perfectly pre-cut for each window, that is usually the hardest part is cutting the tint to fit. These had no cutting at all required.

They are weather tech and I love them. I have a whole other thread on here somewhere about them vs the JDM ones and a bunch of other people that wanted them when I was going to buy them. They are awesome, takes 3 min to install and don't use any screws like jdm or double sided tape like the sh**ty vent visor ones.
