Taillight blacking out/tinting-opinions plz

So i bought some VHT night shade and i pulled my tail lights off and taped the red brake/tail light part off. Proceeded to spray them lightly till i got desired tint. Put them on this morning and i love they way the look. Browsing post today i saw a few 5th gen ludes with the whole tail light blacked out. I thought it looks super sexy. I just have a few questions. How good is the light output of the brakes and tail lights when the whole thing is blacked out? I didnt go real dark on my bottom half when i did them and the signal blinks bright enough even in the day light. But im concerned about night driving and visibility of my car from all the collage ass hats around here. I know i could take it off if i need too but i would rather not half too take it off twice. Also any opinions on which looks better are welcome, whole tail light or just the bottom half. Also as a side note i ordered some orange 7440 signal bulbs so i will be clearing the amber piece out of the tail lights when they get here. Need to see how much the stealership want for some of the taillight gaskets.

Re: Taillight blacking out/tinting-opinions plz

the light output reduction is minimal. unless you go ape shit when you spray it. if you want it black, 3-4 even coats you should be fine w/o overdoing it. once you go past that, the light will start to look purple too.

as for what looks better, the lower half tinted looks way better. god didn't intend for the whole taillight to be tinted. if he did, they'd all come tinted. he left it up to free will. and that also goes for the amount of darkness too. if he intended for BLACK glass to still be transparent, it would be so. but its not.

My car, I kept fudging up and putting too much on one light vs the other so mine got REALLY dark but you can still see the lights perfectly at night and day!

my best friend has a green lude with blacked headlights, markers, and turns, the clear of the tails are done in two coats of vht and it looks great. I've seen it on almost every color lude, including white and green and it always looks great.

your 3 posts don't mean a thing to me, and a bmw green is quite a bit different than the two 5th gen green shades.

read the title of the thread kid. doesn't it ask for opinions?

Also i was wondering about tinting my side markers, i have stock orange side markers and not sure what they will look like. Should i go super dark or lighter if i decide to do them?
