5th Gen Build Dilemma

Hi guys, I got my 01 about 4 months ago, and I'm loving it.
I haven't gotten into modifying cars til now, so I appreciate your patience
I already have a rough idea of going with a N/A build, but here's my dilemma..
Right now I have a low km (150 km or 90k miles roughly) engine, with an auto tranny; But the car has been well maintained.
So here's where I'd like some input, should I start with the build and just run the auto tranny til it doesn't run anymore, and save up for a JDM 5sp with an LSD. Or just go for the 5sp right away?
Thanks for the input!

I would just run the auto til it goes and save up. But if going n/a and you decide to bore it out. Make sure to sleeve ur block. I'm doing the same thing. Once my motor goes out. Just saving til then. Doing n/a with sleeved bored .40 block with forged internals.

Do a 5spd swap. Best mod you'll ever do. Promise. More fun, more reliable, more badass.

On top of that, you will see a lot more power make it to the ground with a manual trans compared to an auto slushbox.

Yeah thanks guys. I'm thinking I'll do the 5sp once spring rolls around.
How much does the whole thing cost to do the swap? And out of curiosity, how much would a port/polish run me?

It will be kinda costly to do the auto to 5sp. Cause you will have to pay for the trans, misc ( like lines, pedals, etc) and then the labor. To bore out ur motor us not very expensive but the sleeves are.

Re: 5th Gen Build Dilemma

you can do an auto to 5sp swap for about 1500 bucks......... possibly cheaper. plenty of threads on this site about the swap and lists of all parts needed.

Re: 5th Gen Build Dilemma

Oh okay, thanks all.
This is a little off topic, but I could use a second opinion. Running a N/A build is probably a bit more reliable compared to a forced induction right? Even if it costs a little more.
