Clutch replacement

I've got an 01 SH 5sp. I'm going to have to replace my clutch soon. About how much does it run to get it done at a reputable service center?

I'd say between $500 and $800.

if you have any mechanical ability, you have a manual, and you have a weekend to spare: do it yourself.

Even with no tools...? j/k :D

I paid $700 when my clutch went out when I was out of town in Baton Rouge. Not too bad considering that was the only place open on the Sat. before thanksgiving & was really my only option at the time.

i may need a clutch replacement as well. Its good to know u are like me and have a sh. I hear that a clutch job on the sh is more of a pita compared to the base model.

i'd say any where around 350-450 to pull and put back in. 150-250 for OEM clutch pressure plate and maybe a slave cylinder and around 35-50 for resurfacing the flywheel and then around 15-20 bux for fluid. so around 600-850 w/ tax and all. we use LUK replacements at our tranny shop. i would recommend LUK or exedy or spec clutch. steer away from your part store clutches such as auto zone. i have had to replace one in a prelude yet but all other hondas have been a PITA esp w/ out a lift.

it's a good idea to do the throwout bearing on 5th gens when u replace the clutch. they're weak.

Napa OEM clutches are good (Just like their brakes). I have one in my 4g and it's just as good or better than my original Honda one, but any other parts store, steer away from. Auto Zone, Advanace, O'Reiley's, etc.

Thought I'd just jump in here -- I've a 5th gen (2001), and I've been told I need my clutch replaced, as well as the throwout bearing, and a resurfacing of the flywheel. I was quoted $1825 for the lot, which seems rather ridiculous. Just wanted to see if it was?

On another note... they also say I need my timing belt replaced, waterpump and outer drive belt, which the quoted me at $1049. That kosher at all?

Thanks

Got quoted elsewhere... much better, but still curious: $1200 for the clutch, etc; and $840 for the latter issues

Don't dealerships charge more than another shop?

I remember getting my CV Joint replaced for $160 when the dealership was charging nearly $600 for the same exact job...
