Recommendation for Winter Tires?

I know, I know it is not even fall yet but wanted to prep for this winter. Here in the frozen tundra of a state called Minnesota we have about 5 months of snow and ice. I have never had specific winter tires on any of my vehicles just all season or all terrains but felt the need to get a specific set of winter tires for the lude due to the nature of the vehicle. So let's here it, what specific winter tires have you tried that you would recommend and why. Thanks for the feedback.

Re: Recommendation for Winter Tires?

Blizzaks get good reviews from what I see. However, I run High Performance Summer tires all year long here in Louisiana, so I don't have any first hand experience with them lol. But like I said, the Blizzaks have quite a reputation on tire sites.

Re: Recommendation for Winter Tires?

thanks for the replies so far....I kinda figure Blizzaks are the #1 choice for winter tires, but also have heard some good things about Michelin X-Ice. Anyone run these before and impressions?

Re: Recommendation for Winter Tires?

I have Blizzaks and they treated me & my lude amazingly last winter.
First winter driving and it was like a piece of cake to me lol even held their own when I had to go through an unplowed neighborhood (like 6-7" of snow)

Well if you have that much snow, less they keep it plowed down your not going to make it around,, once you build up even snow under the front end it will actually lift your front wheels off the ground. No tire in the world will help you then.

Now if they keep it down, then I recommend the Michelin MXv4 s they have unbelievable traction in the snow and ice conditions.

There are also some bolt on pike sets for passenger vehicles.
Application Guide: Spikes-Spider

Check that place out now you don't need to change your tires just mount the piece on the wheel and snap and twist and your ready.
