Lateral G for a base model?

Anyone know what the original factory tuned suspension can pull on the 300 ft lateral g? I Googled this and found that Motor Trend did a comprehensive review of the 1997 Prelude SH and it pulled 0.89g (impressive) BUT I would like to know what does the base model '97 lude without ATTS. Anyone? I am guessing around 0.86g

Re: Lateral G for a base model?

Actually, it'll be about the same. ATTS changes the transient handling characteristics, but it doesn't change the steady-state limit.

Re: Lateral G for a base model?

i remember seeing 0.88 for a base. minisacule difference. not even noticeable by the naked ass. infact that little of a difference could often be a gauge error. or difference in calibration. i should add to, what the manufacturer advertises is an average. every car handles different turning left and right.they'll usually average the 2. i'd really like to get a hold of one of lateral G measurement machines to see the difference between my lude and a stock lude.

edit: apparently you don't need a lateral G machine. you can do it all on your own or with the help of a friend.

Re: Lateral G for a base model?

you guys will have to post your "science project" results along with the track, tire and environmental conditions. I am interested in the number of g's you guys can pull. Besides it sounds like a fun project.

After giving that a good read, it sounds like fun. Only thing we would have to figure out where to go and/or obtain the permission to be there and not get arrested lol.

It would be interesting seeing as you're running a pretty well built suspension ( JICs, sway bar, better tires than mine I'm sure) and I'm running basically stock, with the exception of the Tokico blues...Some calling around and bribeing of local officials may be in order sometime heheh.

Also guys the quality of the surface will affect your results. Slick concrete won't grip as well as say ashfalt for example. But yes, I'm quite interested to see the results too.

Well wide open places are somewhat at a premium around here. That being said, I'd say a vast majority of places that would make good candidates for this project are probably fairly newly laid asphalt in our area.

Drew: it seems this is damn near a must. lol
