LED tail lights.

Hi people,
Looking at doing a LED conversion on my tail lights. Have been searching for a while on how to remove the lens. People have told me to put them in the oven for a while, but because of the length of them they dont fit. So i used the next best thing i had, a heat gun, I managed to get them partially out but then "CRACK". I have ruined 2 tail lights trying this. Is there any other way and has anyone done this before and taken pictures of how.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

How small of an oven do you have? One tail light is like the size of a pan of brownies. I've also used a large grill. Put them on a baking sheet, placed them on the left side and use the burner on the right side and it worked out fine, but I prefer the oven

I've taken a few taillights apart using the oven method, and I always use this same method for taking apart headlights...What you have to do is just be patient. Let it heat up, pry it apart a little, then heat it up again, and do more prying and just keep doing this until you finally get the lense off

Re: LED tail lights.

What is a good temperature to start with? I would imagine it being right in the middle between the melting point of the plastic and the melting point of the glue.

Re: LED tail lights.

I have my oven set around 200 degrees and just keep an eye on it. Try taking it apart every 10min or so
