another wreck

well guys, i did it again. if youre my facebook friend, you already know it haha. i put on the progress rear sway bar last weekend. lets just say, it was worth the money. car handled so differant haha. ass end kicks out way too easily though, i had it on the tightest setting. anywho, my friend was with me testing it, and like a dumbass, i kept trying to kick the ass end out. ended up getting away from me and i hit a curb headon going like 20-30. basically my entire suspension on my front right wheel is shot. radius arm snapped, lower control arm bent, splash shield is melted, brake line busted, dunno about the knuckle, or the strut fork. sway bar end link bent too.

i was able to limp it home, which luckily was only a couple miles away. unfortunately its only downhill to my house. ended up blowing the tire too, it was rubbing on the pinch weld in the wheel well. guess it could be worse. i sourced some type s fenders with the sidemarkers, so thats a plus. also i got both endlinks, the radius arm, and lower control arm for like 100 bucks on ebay. any pointers/tips to help will be greatly appreciated. all work will be done in my driveway

Don't know too many pointers or anything that could help out... could you buy 1 rim to replace the one that got messed up? I wouldn't get too upset over what happened, it happens to the best of us.

I did about that same damage to a 85 CRX, I went into a ditch after swirving to miss a deer and the ditch had a rather large rock in there that I did not see. Good thing it can be fixed.

You said another wreck, I'd say you need to tone it down a bit or move to a rear wheel drive where you can bring the ass end back in.

I'm pissed at myself haha. mostly upset to because I've been walking to work. I was gonna get one wheel, but I was going to get new wheels this winter anyway, so I still don't know

ya, it's my second wreck. this time last year a girl backed into me at a party. I know it can be fixed, it's just a pain in tue ass you know. I wouldn't mind AS much if I had a DD instead of this

Re: another wreck

Mine is my daily driver, mostly just back and fourth to school thats about it. I've got strut tower bars on both front and rear, but I don't get into the turns so hard to break traction. I've been hitting clovers on the freeway and not even slowing down (60mph) without even a chirp from my tires. I am running some pretty good traction tires anyways, Michelin Primacy MXv4s never had a better tire. Running them kind of tall 205 55R 16, but the ride is so nice on the highway, only thing I rub a little entering parking lots, its only the plastic fender liners. Also this tire size my speedo is in direct sync with my GPS. So now I know that if I go to a 17" wheel I'll put on 205 45R 17 and hopefully still have the speedo calibration close.

BTW looking for a set of 4 RSX type S 17" wheels. Will trade and some cash for my RSX type S 16"s w/ the Michelins

This is why you don't drive fast in the rain..At least the damage isn't too bad. Looks like you need a new LCA, end link, fender, and repaint the front lip, and an alignment afterwards

it wasnt raining lol. only wet in the pictures cause it was the day after. and ya, so far i got both end links, a lower control arm, and a radius rod cause mine snapped. i got the jdm fenders with the sidemarkers because i though, might as well. i honestly might leave the lip lol, i really dont care. alignment is def going to happen though

My brother likes to take his RSX Type S to the limits too. He is now on his third RSX Type S. Get the picture.. Slow it down..... These cars are way to fun to drive and look so good to be doing that kind of stuff.

Yeah I know what you mean, thanks for the heads up on a set of wheels. I find them here and there but they are asking way too much.

I still have my old 97 blades w/ tires so I can even ship the RSX type S 16s first so the owner of the 17s can pull them off and install the 16s right away. bascially I'm looking for a owner that bought some aftermarket 17s or 18s and have the stock 17s in the garage or just sitting around.

sorry to hear that dude. at least the damage isn't to severe. can't wait to see her back on the road. those progress sway bars are no joke. i couldn't believe the difference myself when i put mine in. that that be a warning to ye progress sway bar owners. understeer turns into oversteer very quickly and with out warning if you're not careful. something as simple as letting off the gas in a curve when you start to experience understeer. i've came to close to wrecking my lude to learn my lesson the hard way. not sure if you really got the chance to try it out, but what i noticed was my ass was more likely to slide out hiting the brakes going into turns. and it really improved the handling characteristics when accelerating out of turns.

nothing wrong with the stiffest setting. it's great if you have some discipline. if you get the chance and once you get her fixed up, take a defensive driving course with it on the stiffest setting. or even do some auto-xing. you'll really learn to appreciate it. i personally prefer the stiffest setting. but i get some chaffage and clunking with it on the stiffest setting because the endlinks and shocks make contact. the endlinks and shocks i have are considerably thicker then the stock components. otherwise i keep it on the middle setting.

ya i just might do that. my plan though is to put it on the non-stiffest setting, drive around for a while. try the middle, then try the stiffest, see which one i like the most

Ouch!! Yeah that's busted. Good work on the progress, do you have a plan on how you're going to shave the markers on the bumper?

Re: another wreck

Glad to hear the cars back together and on the road again, but damn $2800!! Wow! That's not too far from what I paid for my whole car. You said you got most of the suspension parts for $100 off eBay. What cost so much? Rims & tires? Paint? I saw the pics on your UPSLuder2001Base thread and the car looks great now!!

Lets just keep it that way! lol
