dented hood thanks to 2 a holes

On my way home from work i was driving through my neighborhood almost home. Then these 2 a**holes that live near me came running out. I was at a stop sign and the dove onto my hood causing a wave of dents. So I am extremely PISSED. They will pay for it but it's just the fact that I have to go through the trouble of taking it to a body shop.

I know. Like I said, they said sorry and will pay for it, its just the whole concept of not respecting other peoples' cars.

I would have not taken it so easy. I almost killed the last guy that hit me, until he started crying.

I would have kicked their asses, no questions asked.

As a matter of fact this pisses me off, and its not even my car. At least its only the hood though...right? Either way I'd find a way to teach those punks a lesson, the hard way.

Just took it 2 body shops and I need a new hood. I'm calling insurance and reporting vandalism. Both shops said $1300.Would insurance raise my rates for vandalism? I would go carbon fiber most likely.

Re: dented hood thanks to 2 a holes

Yeah man it's gonna be way cheaper to get a cf hood from eBay that a new hood..

If ur shop tells ur insurance it 1300 to fix then they give u a check for 1300.. Just buy a cf hood and get it painted.. U'll probably have money left over..

Just remember that it's ur money not the shops.. U can do whatever with it.. Like u could just buy a cf hood put it on and have extra money..

Atleast that's how mine works

Hey dude i work with insurance claims on a daily basis. Whether or not the claim will effect your rates depends on your past claims history and which state you live in. the best bet is to call your insurance company or agent directly and ask them if it will effect your premiums or not.

9 times out of 10 because it will be a claim on your comp coverage and it shows you are more at risk for non at fault damage.

What exactly happened? You may be able to file a claim on their home owners under liability, if they admit fault to the damage.

Reply with a detailed description of what happened and ill let you know what you can do.

Re: dented hood thanks to 2 a holes

Tone_Capone...I called my agent and he said it will not increase my rates due to it not being my fault. I have to pay a 250 deductible but thats it. That was the first thing I asked is if my rates would go up and he said "absolutely not"

Make sure to note that so if your rates do go up you can show him. You have no idea how many people get burned on that

Re: dented hood thanks to 2 a holes

Call the insurance company directly and ask them the same exact question. All of their phone calls are recorded so whatever answer they give you will hold up legally.

Im not saying that your agent is a dumbass, but a lot of them are. Its best to cover your ass on this one.

Ive seen people's rates go up because of a windshield replacement caused by a rock off of a tire (non-at-fault comp claim). Just because it isnt your fault doesnt mean your rates will hold. My rates went up because of my address last year.

Wow so instead of calling the agent, I should call the insurance company directly?

Re: dented hood thanks to 2 a holes

No prob.

Also you can get a direct check for the damages from the adjuster if you want. They dont have to pay a shop directly. Its your legal right to choose that.

If you can describe a little more thoroughly what happened i might be able to help you more. If you were near their property you can probably file a claim on their home owners insurance for the damage and handle it with their insurance company instead of yours. that way nothing is effected on your end.

Its like if one of the neighbor kids shoots out your windows with a bb gun. That would be filed under their home-owners because they are liable for the damage. Most home owners policy have liability coverage.

Re: dented hood thanks to 2 a holes

Ok heres what happened.. I was driving home and at a stop sign they jumped on it. It wasn't near there house or not close enough to it. Then they ran away. It happened sooo fast. I would prefer a direct check, therefore I can get a cf hood with no problem. So I should ask the person who comes out to look at it for a direct check? Whatever happens I don't want my rates increasing.

Re: dented hood thanks to 2 a holes

Do you have information on who did it? If not you're going to have to file it on your insurance.

Whichever company you file a claim with will assign you an adjuster. The adjuster will be the one paying you or the shop to repair the damages on your veh. Just tell the adjuster you want them to cut you a check for the damages and you will pick a shop yourself. Simple as that.
