Re: H22A TICKING NOISE WTFFF????

was your kb caps lock button broken?

but maybe the valves weren't adjusted perfectly or maybe they got loose some how. idk, but you should check the valve gap and see if they are normal. Post a sound clip if you can

Re: H22A TICKING NOISE WTFFF????

It's not the fuel injectors ticking? (if they don't tick the engine won't run so this is a good noise)

Re: H22A TICKING NOISE WTFFF????

I subscribe to the theory of Occam's Razor. Go with the most simple explanation. It wasn't ticking before you adjusted the valves, then you put some stress on the engine and now its ticking.

So I'll have to go with its probably the valves, chances are you either didn't do the procedure correctly, didn't torque them down properly or didn't recheck the clearances after you torqued them down.

Recheck the clearances and torque and get back to us.

Re: H22A TICKING NOISE WTFFF????

the 92 thru 98 preludes used a hydro style lifter to hold the vtec rockers up when not in vtec ( these tend to go bad as i just found out ) in 99 they switched to a spring style eliminating the damn valve noise ( that cant be adjusted out ) these pieces are called lost motion assemblys there are 8 they go under the vtec rocker and hold tension on them . sounds just like out of adjustment valves but its not . check the valves again ( a honda valve tool helps alot ) if there right and its still making noise . look up lost motion assembly you will thank me later . lol

i mean no offense but this is why i dont care to pay my mechanic to do stuff im not comfortable doing. yea it cost me $120 to get it done but i know it got done right. I hope you get this figured out cause it dont sound normal that they sounded good then didnt. It could be improper torque was on them when you tightened them down.
