Re: 97-01 prelude depo projector headlights

the depo black housing OEM style headlights are nice. projectors are garbage. However Prelude1897 can retrofit some honda, bmw, or nissan projectors into any headlights for you, for a fee of course...

Re: 97-01 prelude depo projector headlights

If you want projectors I'd go with OEM style Depo's retrofitted.

Glad to hear you're going to rock the Depo's Psychochimp!

oem retrofits don't look like they are projectors.

He was talking about getting the OEM style DEPO's and then having them retrofitted with HID projectors..There's a difference between HID projectors and Halogen projectors.

Here are a few pics of my past work I've done for people

Well call me crazy isn't that last photo of a black 5th Gen? I think they look great, if I didn't just do my 3M treatment on mine and get them looking like new again, I would definitely buy them.

Stock is sexy too, so mine are staying plus aftermarket lights don't seem to ever produce enough light. My H1s are bright compared to my wife's van and my brother's 06 RSX.

Re: 97-01 prelude depo projector headlights

So can i do this myself? Can i put in any type of projector lens such as off an acura, or bmw? And then the light bulb goes right in the projector without any other re-wiring?

Re: 97-01 prelude depo projector headlights

you can do this yourself but with the cost of the parts needed, it's not recommended.

Re: 97-01 prelude depo projector headlights

yes you can do a retrofit yourself and you're kind of limited to certain type of projectors cause of how much room is in the housings. The most common used projectors are TSX, FX, G35, RX, E55, S2K, SC430, Morimoto's,

Re: 97-01 prelude depo projector headlights

2 part question. I saw videos on youtube on how to's for retroffiting projector's, but none for prelude. Do i need to specially modify the housing like cutting to fit a projector? Which is easiest route?

Re: 97-01 prelude depo projector headlights

all retrofits are basicly done the same way. You'll have to take the headlights apart, cut up the reflector bowls, make sure the projectors are aligned correctly, and be sure that the headlights are sealed up real good when putting everything back together so water doesn't leak in. As for using 10k bulbs, I highly suggest not using them, cause your lights output is going to suck. You have to think, your have the light shinning through a glass lense, then you have it shinning through a plastic lense, so your light output is dying out.

If you want a blue light output, I suggest getting some 6000k bulbs and nothing higher than that. Yes, you can use those projectors in the link you posted. TRS has great customer service and great parts.

tbh i think i like those headlights the more i look at em. You should go for em if you like em. Retrofits would be better but dam its more expensive so if i were you i'd get the headlights

Re: 97-01 prelude depo projector headlights

you don't need any major tools. For the cheapest setup you can do and still use your current PnP harness, just get some Morimoto mini's which use H1 bulbs. You'll be happier with those than you will with the cheapo ebay projector lights

That's just my $0.08
