97 prelude power chip??

Does anybody know of a power chip for a prelude?..I'm talking about a simple plug in. Like one that you'd find on a truck such as superchip or jet performance chip?

Re: 97 prelude power chip??

**** no man.
You gotta tune whatever you get. Even if it's just a VAFC, which sort of is plug and play, but you still gotta at least have it street tuned.
Our cars, for lack of better words, were already fine tuned from the factory. That's why we don't see much gains from bolt-ons. You gotta get inside the heart and upgrade that ****.
Don't get me wrong, a VAFC is perfect if you have all the bolt ons, it'll help you get more out of it but all these Mugen, JUN, Spoon, etc. chips on eBay for 99 cents and ****, it's garbage that didn't take more than 2 cents to make and god knows it doesn't do anything good for you.

What's your mod setup?

Re: 97 prelude power chip??

The pulleys and intake are good. But what kinda gains are u looking for? If ur staying all motor, look into a smsp, hytech, rmf or bisimoto header. These are all very expensive(around $800-$1k each) but those are really the only types of header u can see real gains of hp on. Also u can opt for a euro r intake manifold with a larger throttle body port matched to the im. Those are all just bolt ons. If u wanna get into motor work things get much more technical. If u go with all the bolt ons I named and got a tune, u should see a pretty decent gain in hp.

Also to make it slightly faster u can start removing weight from the car. Removing back seats, power steering, cruise control, ac if u dont need it. There are a ton of ways to reduce the weight of your car

Re: 97 prelude power chip??

Without a wideband and/or datalogger, you couldn't really do it. You should really be on a dyno and have a professional do the tuning for you. It'd prolly be alright to lean out your mixture a little bit since our cars run pretty rich from the factory, but as far as setting the optimal VTEC engagement, you'd need to be on a dyno to do that.
