rear rattle in 6x9 speakers.

I'm starting to have this rattle coming from one of my rear 6x9 speakers. Sometimes when I drive over a bump, it rattles too so its not the speaker malfunctioning, just something loose. How do i get to the rear speakers? Can I somehow pry out the rectangular black housing around the speaker cover?

I had the same problem. The speaker covers are held in place by three or four clips (can't really remember). You can take them out from the top but I recommend you do it from the trunk so that you don't risk breaking the plastic covers. Just push the clips of the covers up from inside your trunk. Hope that helps.

The black metal screens can be removed its only a little bit of tacky, just get a small screwdriver and pry it up once you have one corner up its comes off easy. Are these the factory speakers? I should have asked that first. Anyhow I have replaced mine but still used the factory speaker covers, I had to trim the plastic down as the aftermarket 6X9's were deeper so this allowed clearance. Now our old 6X9's have this little electronic device attached to the bottom metal of the speaker housing its like it has a little round microphone on it, I think that has something to do with the rattle of mine, case I have that just danggling and when it gets caught in the trunk spring or the speaker itself it rattles. I would cut them out but I am still using the factory wiring once I get my second amp installed I will be free from factory wiring and much cleaner sound.

Good luck finding the problem.
