3rd tire change this year!!!!!

So this afternoon I was warming up my car before i drive to work, so i stand on the passenger side of the car, admired how nice the 5th gens are lol, then I look down on the rear tire and what do you know! ITS FLAT!, this would be the 3rd tire that's flat this year. I have aftermarket rims that are 205/40/17, I thought I had a good deal when I changed all four tires for $280 flat, which were the Hankooks k106.

I had the Hankooks installed about December of last year, then 3 months later, both tires popped due to a pothole I assume on the passenger side, so I went to a shop and I put the remaining 2 hankooks in the rear and had some new Falkens in front which ran me about $280.

Just when I thought this was the last time my tires would pop, then today happened. I found a nail in the tire and it was leaking air from the sidewalls, WHAT HAPPENED? So I replaced it before I went to work, that one tire with installation and everything was about $100 for the Sumimoto A/S po1 I assume.

3 Hankooks gone, 1 left, hopefully this one would stay.

Re: 3rd tire change this year!!!!!

you do know that as long as its not in the sidewall you can fix nail or other foreign object holes with a tire plug kit that costs about $5-$10 depending on where you go.

Re: 3rd tire change this year!!!!!

@1BADBB6 Wouldn't patching a low profile high speed tire be risky? I'm just curious. I mean, if you have a tire rated for 130mph and you stick a patch on it, what is it rated for now?
@99lude I had a cavalier with Enkei J10 17" and street tires and they didn't last long, esp. if you corner the way a prelude and those rims can. I presume the rims arent bent or anything. But that is a bummer, and an expensive one.

Re: 3rd tire change this year!!!!!

So long as the hole's in the tread and not the sidewall, patches are not a problem. I drive through a construction zone every day, and I've had tires with three and four plugs in them. Don't know that I'd actually drive them at 130mph for long, but have never had a problem in normal highway driving.

Re: 3rd tire change this year!!!!!

I drove with a bolt in my tire on my Sable for like 3 months. Shoulda plugged it but it wasn't losing air. I dunno if I'd go back and drive 80+ on it but it worked. :P

I had a screw where the treads were at, and I had a scratch that was leaking air on the sidewall.

like i said, if its in the tread and not the sidewall you're good. and its not a patch its a plug. besides you're never going to be going 130mph on the interstate unless you're a moron anyways.
