Climate Control Lightings

My climate control buttons, the buttons where you press for which setting you want for the climate never lit up, also the dimmer light went out too, are the climate control buttons suppose to light up? if so what bulb type does it take, if so is it also the same bulb as the cruise control button and dimmer light?

Re: Climate Control Lightings

Sounds like you are saying multiple lights are out usually that means a fuse blown. The bulb is probably pretty small and I just looked at the website on Autozone only think close was an interior curteousy lamp, but thats the one up near the rear view mirror. Your probably going to have to remove it to get the number.

I'm pretty sure its in the left kicker panel near the hood release, its behind that plastic there by where your left foot rests at while your driving.

Re: Climate Control Lightings

There are 4 lights in the climate control box 2 on top 2 on bottom. If half the lights on the top row work and rest don't then you need new lights. But as suggested check your fuse first, heck check all the fuses while you are down there, and don't forget the fuses in the engine bay.

I believe the bulbs are T4 NeoWedge bulbs - ebay will be best as dealership prices suck.. Don't get the LED because they point downwards instead of towards the buttons.

Re: Climate Control Lightings

nope, there are three bulbs in the 4th and 5th gen (non electronic) climate control.

These are just the backlights. if they are all out, more than likely you have broken solder joints on the green connector.
Do any, or part of, the lights come one when you push the buttons in? These are LED's soldered directly on the circuit board and are a lil trickier to replace.

I offer complete rebuild services of this HVAC controller for $45 shipped
-complete removal and re-solder of the green harness + a check/repair for any other cold solder joints
-replacement of the incandescant backlight bulbs to LED (any color)

+ $8 for each Button LED, any color, you want changed (the ones that only come on when a button is pushed.)

Re: Climate Control Lightings

If yours looks like this which my 99 prelude does, then you can just replace the lights.

Look for #2 those are the little neo-wedge lights.

LOL... The new guy won't give up....

there are ONLY THREE Lamps in that controller.. the schematic you just provided PROVES this.. (marked with a #2 - even tho it not showing the third one on the top right side) not to mention the link I had already given earlier in this thread.
