Trunk release button isn't working.

Hi guys,

Since I've bought my prelude the button to release the trunk does not work. Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks

yes there a way to fix it you need to look inside the bracket in the floor and see if the cable is connected and make sure its not snagged some were,if is connected then the problem could be in the lock at the trunk may be out of alignment or is bad ,also does the trunk open with the key ?.Tell me how it goes okay .Later

Yes the trunk does open with the key. Hmm how do I look inside the bracket in the floor? I need to take out the carpet?

Re: Trunk release button isn't working.

no you don't have to take out the carpet ,just remove the screws from the plastic around the release handle and you should be able to see the little cable connection to the metal lever.

Alright, I'll check that out after. So the cable under that should be connected in a good condition, right?

I didn't have time to check but just to be sure. There's a screw under that? And what's the keyhole for the lock for?

also be sure the cable is hooked up in the trunk on the latch itself.

Are you sure that the lever is not locked? Have you tried to turn the lock with a key next to lever?

I'm not sure, but the button is soft when I release it.

Re: Trunk release button isn't working.

I think I'll have this fix to for sure. Short story. I went to pick up my mom after her grocery. I take the bags and put it in the trunk, exhausted I dropped the key inside as well and BAM closed the trunk...Follow up it took me like 3 hours to take back seats out while I had nothing to work with on me, my dad came to give me a hand at the end. Painful night
