quick question.

i have a 98 lude sh, the motor has about 300,000 on it. should i just swap out the motor and buy a new one, or replace everything in it. it's my daily driver, i don't race. i just want it to run smooth with a little power. thanks for all your comments.

Re: quick question.

lol ya... not really needed for just a daily, from the sounds of it probably all stock daily, at that.
i'd just pick up a jdm h22a, covert it to usa OBD2 and run it off ur stock ecu and such.

Maybe that motor isn't running great? I'm just guessing that since he said he wants something that runs smooth...

Re: quick question.

the motor is pretty much done. it's leaking oil from several places, small, slow leaks, but leaks none the less. i was thinking of a build that would give me decent power, maybe something like 180 - 200 hp to the wheels. i've been reading that the euro r is the way to go. i'm still in the stage of deciding what i truly want to do. my boy tells me to just replace all the parts with oem since it's my daily, but i would like to get 180 - 200 to the wheels.

Re: quick question.

Just fix the oil leaks. Its not knocking is it? It prob burns oil, so you may want to do rings and valve seals, but its up to you if you really want that lil extra hp.

...if hes gonna rebuild it, why not just pick up a jdm h22a for about a grand, for a long block. and swap that in, that way it'll only have around 30k miles on it. run like new again. and if hes any good with cars he'll probably save money doin it. cuz it'd be tooo easy to do.

plus he could sell his original motor too make up for some of the cost.

well i;d say a couple more horsepower then the 97-98, if any truely. gotta figure iirc roughly 20% loss in hp through the drivetrain. and also the extra 5hp on the 99-2001 hasnt really been proven at all. unless they changed the maps on the ecus. because the motors them selves are identical.
personally i call bs on the 99-01 ludes having 5 more hp. but hey if you wanna believe by all means go for it.
