sanding dome plastic cover for more light.

So yesterday I just changed my dome/license plate light/and trunk lights to leds, but I want a bit more output from the dome and license plate light, so I've been wondering if its possible to sand the plastic cover of the dome light to make it more see-through ish. Also the license plate led is lacking a bit too, so is there any way to clear up the circle thing that protects the bulb?

Most of those are already kinda thin. And LEDs are a very directional light output, so that's why they would be appearing less bright.
