What could this sound mean?

Ive noticed for as long as I have had my prelude (December of 2009) that when i rev the engine even in the slightest or while driving, there is a slight "chuffiing" sound that seems to come from the engine. It is very annoying and I am wondering if it could be an exhaust leak of some sort. Also, when driving at highway speed I noticed a high pitch whining noise almost like a supercharger. What could this mean?

Thanks for your help!

Brad

Here is the video of what i am talking about. the quality is crappy but i think you could still hear the chuffing.

What could that noise be?

You most likely have a valve out of adjustment. I think Honda says 50K for every adjustment but no ones ever does them. I know people with Honda bikes that adjust them every weekend almost.

Re: What could this sound mean?

Sounds like an exhaust leak from your manifold gasket.......that would make the valve ticking more noticeable as well

That's not tru. I get mine done at least once a year. Bc I kno at times throughout the year I beat on the motor and it's a old one and that it tends to get out of place.

I have that same problem in my 95 prelude, how much and how difficult is it to fix this and do it on your own?

Re: What could this sound mean?

I'd call it a 2/5. It requires a feeler gauge, couple different sockets and wrenches, flat tip screw driver, and you'll replace your valve cover gasket in the process

Re: What could this sound mean?

Well I plan on getting a tune up done. does that normally come with valve adjustments? How much would a new gasket and install cost???

Thanks
Brad

Re: What could this sound mean?

it might be a cylinder. if not maybe exhaust leak either header crack or gasket needs to be resealed.
