Need help guys, grinding noise? NOT THE CVs??HELP!!

Hey guys, I typically don't ask for too much help and try to give my opinion as much as possible on here but it's time I ask for help.
Here is the story....This just started 2 weeks ago and has gotten a little worse.
I noticed when I was turning left one day at a light I heard a grinding noise almost the whole way through first gear....it was no sound like I have heard before. It did it a few more times and I thought maybe it was my strut mounts or maybe a CV....THEN yesterday I started uphill at a light and it did it even louder....by the time I shift to 2nd it seems to stop but I could be wrong....and yes....it does it when I turn right too...
SO...It is def not my CVs...I put the car up today and didn't see ANY suspension issues....and it does it more if I start off in first using more gas then just being easy and inching off from a dead stop.....
I am wondering if anyone has had this issue and done any fixing...I have a couple ideas
1) may be my differential...
2) could be a warped fly wheel
3) prelude curse....
PLEASE ANY ADVICE WOULD BE AWESOME
I am not trying to pay someone 300 to pull my transmission apart to see if its something in there before maybe one of you guys tell me if they have had any similar issues before.....
HELP!

yea i checked them yesterday and they look fine. i replaced my front one last year anyway. it is more of a grind than a smack or pop that you get from a mount

hmm.. idk if this makes sense but are you REALLY low on trans fluid? i feel like when your turning the fluid is sloshing to one side leaving your gears exposed with no oil on them causing the grinding sound. Just a thought

yeah, just think of all things that rotate in and around your engine. And i think you should physically check the fluid level.. although you think its good its good to make sure things are good so that you can 100% eliminate it from your checklist of things. I thought that my fuel pump was not working when in reality it over heated because i was out of gas and there was nothing cooling it. We realized that my gas tank was dented and it took 4 gallons out of my tank and i count my miles so i was way off on my guess work. This was when i first got my car but we almost pulled the fuel pump out when my dad said lets for the hell of it fill this thing up with gas.. and sure as hell it worked.. as dumb as it sounds.. start with the basics and dont assume things are how they should be.

^lol thanks man. Well I have had more than a few people on other forums say its probable a wheel bearing. one guy in particular even told me which one lol I am just going to have to wait until tomorrow and go at it again unless someone has had the exact same thing happen and can give me a definitive answer :(

Re: Need help guys, grinding noise? NOT THE CVs??HELP!!

bad wheel bearings deffinitly make a grinding noise that's what I was thinking when I first started reading the thread..you can check the wheel bearings pretty easy by lifting the car with the tires still on and tight and if you put one hand on the top front of the tire and the other hand on the bottom front of the tire and try seeing if it will wobble back and forth at all, if it does you're wheel bearings are bad there should be no 'play' when you do this. the grinding sound (if it is the wheel bearings) is because there isn't enough grease in the bearing but I'm pretty sure they're not serviceable so they would have to be replaced..

on my last car (not a prelude) the wheel bearings were so bad I was worried they were going to break while I was driving down the road, when I lifted the car there was at least a 1/4" of play in the wheels.. needless to say I replaced everything on both sides from the wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar links, alignment, brake pads and rotors, both axles..just recently put a brand new batt + alternator, oil pan gasket, full synthetic oil change, and a k&n air filter...then not even 3 weeks later this guy smashes into the front corner of my car totaling it and causing me some ridiculous medical bills. had to pay $150 to get my stuff out of the car then the junk yard would only give me $75 for the car

you don't have to do that much work just for the wheel bearings I just did it cause I was already in there and figured I may as well sink some money into my car which I was using for work. sorry bout the rant, the topic just made me think about all that work and money that went to the junk yard

no problem at all bro, I really appreciate the advice. I am so sorry to hear that happened with your ride though :( I am starting to get a few more people now saying that it is the wheel bearing so tomorrow I am going to go get her checked out and get the final word. My big fear is replacing the wheels bearing and then the sound still being there:D
